GamerGuy
I hope you're joking.....A lot of people feel that he shouldn't, but that's a debate for another time. Guess he decided to listen to my advice and just retire. I'm a little surprised, actually. I figured he would meander around for a while before actually doing it. Just wait for it, he turns out like Brett Favre and comes out of retirement next year.

I just cannot see Allen retiring for good, he still has a lot of basketball left in the tank, and I know he's hungry to win a title. But I honestly do not see how his Hall of Fame status is up in the air, I think he's a sure hall of famer and one of the greatest guards to ever play the game. Check my Stats
You can't keep a top 5 PPG player of all time out of the hall, an MVP as well. People honestly hold titles WAYYY to high in regard if that is what this is all about. If it is about his attitude I don't see how his personality is relevant in basketball ability and accomplishments. Any way you slice it he should be a first ballot HOFer. Anyways, I'll believe it when I see the press conference. He is still capable of contributing to a team, and if he IS retiring he is doing so way too early, not only in his career but in the season as well. Dr. Feelgood
I really hope it doesn't end like this for Iverson. I definitely do think he's still got some great basketball left in him and I do think he could start for quite a few teams out there. Owner Real Deal Posted November 26, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted November 26, 2009 I think it's a stupid decision on his part. But on the other hand, I commend him for not wanting to ride a contender's coattails as an old veteran player. He would rather lead or be a second option to win that title, even if he can't, and that's what I like about the situation.
Art
Good timing alot of people seemed to be exploting his frustration.
The Regime
Sad to see it end like this; but atleast he is retiring on his own terms, well kinda.
La Bomba
His ego is so big that he would rather retire before come off the bench. Iverson was a GREAT player. He had a bunch of flaws, but you can't ignore his statistics and his accomplishments (with or without a championship). He's a future HOFer, but I think it's just sad that he'd rather quit playing basketball, than come off the bench. I'm just amazed that anyone could have that attitude. The Artesticle
Well I liked him in Philly... sad because he still has a lot left in the tank. He can still easily contribute off the bench and possibly be in the running for 6th man of the year, if only he accepted a lesser role and tweaked his game a bit. Too bad he would rather go out like this rather than facing reality and helping a team win or contend for a championship.
La Bomba
TO ALL OF MY FANS: I would like to announce my plans to retire from the National Basketball Association. I always thought that when I left the game, it would be because I couldn’t help my team the way that I was accustomed to. However, that is not the case. I still have tremendous love for the game, the desire to play, and a whole lot left in my tank. I feel strongly that I can still compete at the highest level. Stepping away from the game will allow me to spend quality time with my wife and kids. This is a reward that far exceeds anything that I’ve ever achieved on the basketball court. I have prayed for this day and I see it as my greatest gift. I want to thank the people of Reebok International Ltd., for always allowing me to be me and for supporting me my whole career through all the ups and downs. I have enjoyed 13 wonderful seasons in the NBA, and I am grateful. I want to first acknowledge my fans everywhere, who have been with me throughout my entire career. Without you, there would be no me. You should all know that I appreciate your support from the bottom of my heart. Thank you! To Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Charles Barkley and Larry Bird, you guys gave me the vision to play the game that will be forever in my heart. To my Mom, who encouraged and inspired me to play every day, and to all of my family and friends who stood by me from the beginning. Thank you! To my high school coach, Michael Bailey, Coach John Thompson at Georgetown University, Coach Larry Brown and to all of my other coaches, teammates, administrators, owners and staff who’ve been a part of my career, Thank you as well! I’d like to give a special thanks to the people of Memphis. I never played a home game for your beloved Grizzlies, but I want you to know how much I appreciate the opportunity given me by a great owner in Michael Heisley, and the support of the city. I wish the Memphis Grizzlies’ organization all of the success that the game has to offer. And finally, to the city of Philadelphia: I have wonderful memories of my days in a Sixers’ uniform. To Philly fans, thank you. Your voice will always be music to my ears. God Bless all of you,ALLEN IVERSON http://btabasketball.com/news/allen-iversons-statement-regarding-his-retirement/

I still like and appreciate everything he did as a Sixer though. I'm actually kind of sad he's retiring, wish he could've signed with the Bobcats to reunite with Larry Brown and play with Stephen Jackson

HornyWetPenguin
I see him coming back. I hope he comes back. He def has more in the tank and he is still atleast a 20/7 kind. Best small guard the league has ever seen. He's changed the game a lot and influenced alot of players, started trends, etc. cornwalls, tattoos, arm sleeves, his crossover. Sun Tzu
I think this is the end for Iverson, unless he goes to Charlotte or back to Philly where he made his name.
