Cleveland's Finest
n this era of free agency and the salary cap, players change teams like they change underwear. Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas will tie former teammate Danny Ferry for first place on the Cavaliers' all-time list for games played with 723 if he plays in tonight's game in Charlotte. Ilgauskas, 34, is scheduled to break the record in Saturday's game against the Mavericks at Quicken Loans Arena. The special thing about the record is his longevity with the same team. This is Ilgauskas' 12th season in the NBA after being drafted in 1996. "Obviously, it goes to show you it's hard to play so many games for one team," Ilgauskas said. "It doesn't happen any more with free agency with fans, management and media, they are so impatient. Guys bounce around more. It means a lot." http://www.news-herald.com/articles/2009/11/27/sports/nh1753227.txt This is gonna be awesome. Z deserves the utmost respect as he has been through rough times with the team, his personal life, and his injury problems. He's come full circle, adopting twins, returning to become an All-star, and playing for an elite team. An amazing story for a generous person. The Regime
723 games that's a lot. Anyone have an knowledge of how many games Kobe has played in a Lakers uniform as a comparison?
Cleveland's Finest
Kobe has played 948 regular season games I saw on Wiki. Z would've had more than 850 but remember he missed 2 full seasons and then some during his injury. I remember they both were drafted the same year. His Greatness
It's too bad LeBron can't break that record when he's with the Knicks. Just kidding. He'll be with the Nets. That's remarkable longevity by Z. I think he's got at least two seasons left in him but who knows if they're with Cleveland. In fact, who knows if the future of any of these Cavs are in Cleveland.
