He gets far too little respect. But...Anderson Varejao? The most I can say for him is that he tries his best. He doesn't have great strength, his timing is lousy, and he can get out of control. You would seriously consider Anderson Varejao a better interior defender than Tim Duncan?
Owner Real Deal Posted November 30, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted November 30, 2009 Yeah, Przybilla has been a good defender throughout his career. I don't consider Josh Smith a big man. His position is at the four, but he's not a big. Greg OdenJoakim NoahTim DuncanDwight HowardKendrick Perkins That's my top five, no particular order. You can make arguments for... Owner Real Deal Posted November 30, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted November 30, 2009 You can make an argument for Pau right? Or even Drew?I don't know about Gasol, but he's better than Andrew, who has been playing average to below-average defense all season long. Shot-blocking is okay, but you also have to stop your man, not just the small penetrating guards that blow past Fisher. I can't say that Gasol is a top ten defender...I guess you can argue he's top ten, at least...but no way is he in the top five.

Owner Real Deal Posted November 30, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted November 30, 2009 how is it nobody mention chris andersenGood help defense, not a good man-to-man defender (sort of like Camby, except less defense).
His Greatness
Chris Andersen jumps at every shot and is routinely outmuscled. Full of energy, but overrated. And I think Oden's too undisciplined to be top five. Joakim Noah was a good choice. I don't have a top five, but I feel that the only elite defensive bigs are Howard, Perkins, Duncan and maybe Garnett, who's slower, but is still ailing. Whoever occupies the last spot isn't in same tier as far as defense goes.

His Greatness
I believe Przybilla is a very good defender. I don't believe he's impactful enough to be considered elite, though. It's a very subtle distinction.
