Legacy
Who will step up from the bench? Odom, but who else? Sasha was the best role player two seasons ago, then last year it was Ariza, which role player will step up this year to help the Lakers? All I see is, the starting 5 (except maybe Bynum or Fisher) and Odom doing well.
Owner Real Deal Posted July 3, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted July 3, 2009 Ariza was a starter for us, so I guess we should've been asking this same question last year, also.
kingfish
Lol nice try to find something wrong with the Lakers, but Ariza was a starter.
Legacy
Besides Kobe, Odom, Artest, and Gasol, what player do you see playing the best or having a breakout season like Sasha and Ariza have in years past?
Legacy
Lol nice try to find something wrong with the Lakers, but Ariza was a starter. I wasn't, I was wondering who you guys will think will emerge as an important role player. Stop trying to make it seem like everyone is against the Lakers.
kingfish
We dont need anyone to have a breakout season, cause we have Artest now. There is enough proven veterans that can get the job done. The only thing that will help us is Bynum staying healthy and playing at 100 %.
Force
To answer your question, I can see Shannon Brown emerging into a very valuable pierce for us this upcoming season.
Eternal
Yeah I don't see anyone really stepping up for us on the bench besides Odom and Brown. We had this problem last year as well after the first quarter of the season.
The Artesticle
Lamar Odom is most likely coming back. Same with Shannon. The bench will essentially be the same as last year, except Shannon will probably take the majority of Jordan's minutes, which is a definite upgrade. Ron will be taking Trevor's place in the starting lineup, that's all. Here's our second unit: C: Bynum/GasolPF: OdomSF: WaltonSG: VujacicPG: Brown If the minutes are managed correctly, we will have one (Drew or Pau) on the court at all times. LO is one of the best bench players in the league, and I assume he'll be better next year, because he'll be more comfortable coming off the bench. But who knows, this is Lamar we're talking about, maybe he'll be worse (???). Luke isn't a bad option off the bench if he can play like the way he did in the 2nd half of the season / Finals. Overpaid, but he still gets the job done. He's the glue guy for the second unit and gets everyone involved. Sasha was straight up garbage last year. But he's a player who relies on confidence and never had things going for him at all. He was injured, missed all of training camp, just completely out of rhythm the entire year. This summer, he's going to be playing for his National Team, so hopefully that loosens him up for the regular season. I don't expect him to play as well as he did in his contract year, but I expect (hope) him to bounce back and at least be serviceable. Brown will most likely take the majority of Jordan's minutes. Jordan is probably on the way out anyways. The coaches don't like him, and we basically tried to trade him away for free to Houston, but got rejected. I think one of the reasons why Shannon didn't play as much last year was because of his inexperience in the triangle. With training camp under his belt, he'll most likely beat out Jordan for the backup spot. And like most have already said, he could be the breakout player for us next year. alcstarheel
If Bynum continues to look like a lame duck at times, I see Josh Powell increasing his minutes this year. He did what he had to do when he came in games. Worked hard, actually boxed out, and hit some jumpers when needed. I was sad to see his minutes dwindle in the 'offs, but as we are retaining him, I'm hoping his work last year will be rewarded.
