The Truth
I think getting vB4 would really help this site gain members and increase discussion.
Owner Real Deal Posted December 6, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted December 6, 2009 Not a chance. It's a terrible software, difficult to customize the skin, and it's less user-friendly in the ACP. There would be no way I'd ever move to vBulletin, especially after the price increase...and even then, if it was for free, I wouldn't take it. I've worked with many vB boards for a few years, coded for two and skinned for plenty, and it's junk compared to IPB 3.

The Truth
Alright, cool. I don't have a problem with this software. I just heard vB4 was all the rage and wanted to get a stance.
Owner Real Deal Posted December 6, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted December 6, 2009 IPB 3 has everything vB 4 will have, and more. It's also more secure, better support, and many, many more updates. Invision has a leg up on anything vBulletin has done for about two years now. After some of the problems I've seen with vBulletin, I'd almost rather use a phpBB board. The Truth
Nice bro, thanks for the insight. I'm getting used to this software and liking it even more. One thing I like about this site already is that ownership cares. That wasn't really the case on my other site and it was frustrating. So, just to be sure. When I click 'View New Content' that shows me all the new posts?

There's a difference...but I'm not exactly sure what it is, haha.

Jenneral
I prefer this to all vB boards. However I don't prefer IPB to all vB boards. Brandon is real good at turning this software (which looks god-awful by default) into the most amazing looking forum. No other forum has this great of a design and feel to it, which I must thank RD for. After seeing what can be done with this software, I too would be very hesitant to go over to the competitor. JWaLL
Yeah, the View New Content link is sort of similar to the Today's Active Content link you'll see near the bottom of the site. There's a difference...but I'm not exactly sure what it is, haha.View New Content is all of the posts made since your last login, Today's Active Content is every post in the last 24 hours. Owner Real Deal Posted December 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted December 7, 2009 View New Content is all of the posts made since your last login, Today's Active Content is every post in the last 24 hours.Well, see, it was different until that last board update...so that's where I was confused. I remember everyone griping about the "new" View New Content link a month or more ago. I've never used either until the complaints, and that was only to check out what's wrong. I have to read every topic anyways, scrolling down the board and through the forums, so those links do nothing for me, lol. Thanks for the clarification. Owner Real Deal Posted December 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted December 7, 2009 why would you need to do that when 'View New Content' shows you all those new things anyway?Because I like posting in topics that aren't getting much activity while I'm checking on new posts.
