Ok so my nba 2k10 disc is scratched a little bit. Its got that scratch ring around it, heard its pretty common. The game itself runs, I can get all the way into the main menus and game match until the game stops reading from there. I dont want to buy a new nba 2k10 disc copy. I was thinking of renting 2k10 from blockbuster, using their disc to install to my hard drive, and then I can just use my disc from now on since my xbox can actually read the game, then I can still play from the hard drive.

Problem is im not sure if it will work. Does it matter that its different discs, or does it have to be the same disc that u installed from? Also, can you still play on xbox live from an installed game? Need help pls thx asap!

A lot of game stores usually have disc cleaning machines that can completely repair scratches and marks that keep you from playing the game to the fullest. I had this happen to my Gears of War 2 disc and my Halo 3 disc, in which I couldn't get passed the main menu for either one and now they work fine.

It will work. I did this with COD4. I had a [expletive]ed up COD4 disc, like bad enough that it didn't even read. So i borrowed a disc from a friend and D/Led it to my HD.(make sure the disc you D/L it with isn't scratched, or badly scratched). Low and behold, it worked lol. If i were you, i'd just borrow the game from a friend, the process takes like 15-20 minutes tops, don't waste 5 bucks at block buster for no reason lol.
