Raiders coach Tom Cable told the Denver media during a conference call on Wednesday Charlie Frye would start at quarterback Sunday against the Broncos.

Cable was decidedly lukewarm Monday in his assessment of quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who was ineffective in relief of injured starter Bruce Gradkowski during the Raiders' 34-13 loss Sunday to Washington.

With Bruce Gradkowski injured and uncertain to play on Sunday, the Raiders have added a new quarterback: former Bills first-round pick J.P. Losman.

Losman led the UFL's Las Vegas Locos to the championship of the start-up league's inaugural season. But he hasn't played in the NFL since last season in Buffalo when he backed up Trent Edwards.

The Raiders need depth at quarterback after Gradkowski suffered injuries to both knees in Sunday's loss to Washington. He's uncertain to play against Denver this week, and coach Tom Cable refused to commit to starting JaMarcus Russell when he spoke on Monday.

Real I don't think Ryan Leaf or Danny Awful would be better lol but if I was Oakland I would draft one of three guys in next years draft. Bradford, Clausen or Ryan Mallet.

I would draft any of those three, plus Tebow or McCoy, as long as it meant waiving Russell.

I just can't stand him...but we all know this by now. Sorry, lol.
