I am getting a new laptop for college but I don't know what I want.

Im thinking of getting a macbook pro 15 inch with a 3.06 ghz intel duo core processor and 4 gb of ram and a 500 gb harddrive (has 7 hours battery life) but am wondering if anyone knows of a better labtop they suggest.

I really love the Lenovo Thinkpad line, and the W700 is as good as they get. The dual screen is something that may or may not come in handy; YMMV. Just stay away from the Tablet. Trust me.

yeah, unless you are in love with macs you can get a faster pc for way less then 2400. i just spend around 1700-1800 on a laptop which is barely slower then the one you said above. slightly slower processor, but you arent gonna need more then 2.66 which is what i had. and i also got a 4 year warranty that covers everything included in that price

and i got a studio 15 (15 for 15 inch), 2.66 gHz 6mb cache, 4 gig ram, 320 gb hard drive (like 7200 or something like that for speed), an upgraded graphics card, HD screen (included in my package), and a 4 year warranty. i think it was around 1800, probably less

and i would have gotten a much slower, but i will need it to run engineering and design programs

and OSU, i think you said you were also engineering. i would suggest getting a PC because all the technical programs are written for PC, not mac. so unless you are already in love with macs i would suggest a PC so you dont have to deal with all the crap associated with running those programs

I really like the battery for the mac and am getting vfusion which gives you both processing systems working on the computer if I do get a mac, plus Purdue has support on campus for mac for free and will help with any problems I have with it at all on campus.

Yeah, besides with windows 7 coming out already, you get a free copy with any new purchase.

So my dell was 1500 with 720p edge to edge screen, 500gb HDD, 2.66 GHz with 6mb cache processor and an average HD graphics card, light up keyboard, 2mp webcam....thats almost 1000 bucks less than what your'e considering and dell doesnt charge shipping on orders more than $999.

and if youre into little webcam aminations...well then dell also comes with software for that.

I know most people on here dont like dell, but I've had dell for more than 4 years, and I must say I've only had handful of problem...mainly caused by me.

But yeah man you'll be saving alot on this dell....you can even upgrade to bluray player for another 150...and in some ocasions if you find the right deal on dell for only 50 bucks and a 1080 screen.....so idk man w.e you want

the laptop even went down in price now
