The Kobe/Lebron commercials are pointless

Bron isn't a peer of Kobe. So he shouldn't be in a commercial with Kobe in a fashion that depicts them as rivals or even peers. Like I said, TD or KG would be appropriate but they are with a different company.

Being a Laker fan puts me in a different perspective. To myself everything matters. That's the mindset of a champion. I'm pretty sure that Celtic fans wouldn't appreciate seeing KG doing commercials with Zach Randolph. I'm pretty sure Spur fans don't wanna see TD in a commercial with Anthony Randolph.

I won't even discuss the Kobe>MJ thing lol...

As for the 2nd one, how is he not? It's not like Kobe is 10 times better or something. Last i checked, LBJ is damn close to Kobe right now, and in a year or 2 will overtake him as the games best. KG/Duncan arent top 5 players anymore IMO, at their positions, yes, in the league no.

As a celtic fan, i could care less what they're showing in the commercials. They could be comparing Paul Pierce with Jamario Moon and it wouldn't matter to me because well, i just don't care about commercials...

To say Lebron isn't even close to Kobe's level is dumb lol. Sure, he's mindset, killer instinct w.e you call it, isn't there yet, but like B said, what he does on the court alone, is undeniable. He's a [expletive]ing beast, plane and simple lol.. with his combination of power and speed, i don't see anybody else getting compared to Kobe nowadays..

Like everybody else said though.. this is just a marketing technique...why put Kobe with Melo, when the marquee matchup that everybody's eyes are always glued on is LBJ and KB? It's all bout making money and thats wut Nike is doing.

How can people criticize LBJ's ability to win LOL. Honestly his second best player is Mo Williams and third best is..... who? WHO IS HIS 3RD BEST? Delonte West? Lmao get that [expletive] outta here, here his cast would not win 25 games without him but with him they are put into status of contending. He is on the level of Kobe Bryant whether you like it or not.

Kobe to LeBron is a much, much, much different comparison than that of Garnett and Randolph.

In 3-4 years, LeBron James will more than likely be the "undisputed" best player in the league.

Nike is marketing the two best players because Bryant will be handing the torch to James. I know a great deal of Lakers fans don't care much for LeBron, but there isn't a single person here that can deny his talent. His attitude is in the gutter, but that can't take away from his physical abilities on the court.

Personally, the only other player I'd want Kobe to share a commercial with would be Wade, but I absolutely love pairing Kobe and LeBron together. They were the two everyone focused on in the MVP race over the last two years, the two players everyone watched closely in the Olympics, and it's probably the match-up that gathers the most attention (media and fans) when it happens in the regular season.

If Kobe and LeBron is a bad thing, Jordan and Magic were, because Magic sure the hell wasn't the player Michael was. He wasn't the defender, he wasn't the scorer, wasn't as clutch, and if putting the two best players in the NBA in a commercial together is a problem, sticking Magic and Bird in there with Jordan was idiotic.

They really is no guarantee that the torch gets handed to Lebron. Personally, Melo and Durant have the attitudes and leadership that will put them in position to be handed the torch.

Bron has been ruined. It's only a matter of time before Bron starts speaking in the 3rd person. It's getting to the point to where ESPN is having a hard time covering it up Bron's lack of leadership and extreme immature behavior. I've never seen an NBA legend behave like Bron. He will continue to destroy himself and be out the league in 6-7 years.

Comparing Magic to Jordan is not a stretch at all. Magic was a 5 time Champion and multiple league MVP before Jordan ever won his first championship which happened to be against Magic. That made them rivals. Jordan beat Magic in a game that counted. Magic was already considered the best PG all-time.

Also as far as the Olympics are concerned it was Kobe and Wade who deserved the hype. Bron's game didn't translate.

Kobe/Wade commercials would be nice but you have got to capture the essence of Kobe's competitive nature.

Kobe/Melo or Kobe/Durant would be more appropriate.

You would never catch Kobe doing or saying half of the dumb crap Bron does. I think that is the reason that we've seen Kobe take a liking to Melo.

Kobe loves Melo, Wade, and LeBron. Kobe will pass the torch to LeBron after he retires and wins 4 more championships.

Bron has been ruined. It's only a matter of time before Bron starts speaking in the 3rd person.

LeBron already does that a lot.

So all this is about, really, is LeBron's attitude?

Well, Jordan was one of the most hateful players on the court. He didn't dance around and showboat, but he mouthed off to everyone, including teammates and opponents.

As far as Magic being on Jordan's level, that's inaccurate. Only his five rings puts him there...and to be honest, even LeBron would eventually have championships running with Kareem, Worthy, Scott, Cooper, Green and Pat Riley.

LeBron out of the league in 6-7 years because of his attitude? Well, that's 14 seasons. Jordan played 15. Larry Bird played 13 seasons. David Robinson played 14 seasons. Those guys should've watched their attitudes, I guess.

Who cares wut Lebron does off the court...what matters is what he does on the court, and guess what? He always delivers.

omg he's dancing while he's on the bench! He must be a horrible leader. lol...you guys say that David Stern is making this league so strict and stuff with his fines and dresscode rule, than somebody does something outside the line, and completely get on his case.

I don't recall anyone saying anything about Bron's will to win. It's his attitude and skillset. If Bron's attitude doesn't improve because he loses his speed Bron will end up being a SF/PF tweener.

It wasn't about his supporting cast until the Spurs swept Bron.

It wasn't about his supporting cast when he was dancing and horse playing through last season to get popped by Dwight.

Stop making excuses for Bron.

It's peoples constant crowning of Bron that sets him up for failure. Everyone sees the "physical talent". I see it. But until he gets his mind together you'll never see a ring.

Karl Malone is the second greatest PF of all-time. Charles Barkley is third.

John Stockton is a top five PG of all-time. Jason Kidd is as well.

None of them have rings.

Pair LeBron with a prime Shaq, and he's got rings. Do you think Melo will win a ring where he's at right now, with the teammates he has? Do you think Wade can win one with Beasley? Do you think Durant can win a ring with Westbrook and Green?

You're looking into this way too much. Dennis Rodman's attitude was five times as bad as LeBron's, yet he was a pivotal piece on the absolute greatest team of all-time, the 72-win Bulls. Kobe Bryant, the one you say LeBron shouldn't be compared to, had a poor attitude for the first half of his career, which included the dynasty.

All the while, saying LeBron's skillset is weak doesn't help much, either. He improved his jumper, has a nice fadeaway, added range, is slowly improving his post game (slowly), and his defense is much better than it was back in 2006 and 2007.

I don't know what else to say. I'm the biggest Kobe fan here, and I'm not sure if LeBron will ever be in the same league as Bryant as far as overall game goes...but he will be the best player in the NBA soon, and if there's one current player that deserves to be in a commercial with Bryant (if that's even something up for discussion to begin with), it's James.

Plus , with everyone dreaming of landing LeBron in 2010, and Kobe being the current champion, the paring can make even more sense

To me being an A-hole like Jordan is completely different than being perceived as a clown or immature kid like Lebron. Kobe talks big boy trash just like Jordan. Hell Gary Payton talked mega smack. If you do it in that nature it's fine. When you do it like Bron it looks immature.

But you have to watch the game closely to see what is going on with Kobe/Jordan/Payton running their mouths.

With Lebron all you have to do is watch him on the bench doing the damn river dance. There are young players on Bron's team who Bron is screwing up mentally. Even High School and Collegiate players look at Bron. There is a responsibility to uphold and Bron doesn't do it because the entire Cavs organization is scared to lose him. It starts with their lame duck coach. The entire city of Cleveland has sat back and let Bron run loose. A bigger city with a richer history would never put up with that.

I am not saying in any fashion that Magic is the caliber of Jordan. What I am saying is that Magic was a five time champion before Jordan won his first and his first happened to be against Magic.

Bron will never reach the heights that most of you expect. We've already seen the best of Bron. He has been ruined by the media and his Organization. He is a train wreck waiting to happen. Going to New York or another big city would be tragic to Bron. His best bet is to stay in Cleveland and be a big fish in a small pond.

Real you can't compare the attitude of Rodman or a young Kobe to that of Bron's.

Kobe's thing was he wanted to be successful and build his legacy. He had to learn to do it.

Rodman never had a bad attitude. He was just very very very eccentric. I loved Rodman's attitude.

Bron's attitude comes off like a baby who has been handed everything before he was ready and can't understand why he's failing.

As far as Melo... Melo wins a ring last year if they beat the Lakers.

Durant has work to do but you can tell that he has the right people in his corner working with his game and mind.

I can't say the same for Bron as I can say for Durant.

To summarize, Big Chief Triangle hates Lebron.

Kobe is king.

/endthread

I despise his attitude. I was a fan and even had a $300 jersey until he turned into what he is now. Bron is not bigger than the game. I gave that jersey to a friend and left it alone.

They has never been a player with the combination of Bron speed and power. But there have been plenty with his severe lack of maturity. Where have they all ended up?

Shaq? He's a four-time champion and arguably the most dominant offensive player of all-time.

True. Very true.

As goofy as Shaq is he took the game seriously. He's had his moments but I can't remember Shaq showing up another team by dancing at the free throw line or doing the river dance on his bench.

Yes Shaq has slapped Ostertag and dunked on the entire opposing team. Yes I know this. Shaq has made funny 'quotables" and cracked plenty of jokes. He even called the Kings the "Queens".

But it was still in good taste.

Kinda similar to Deion Sanders. Deion was a fool but but it was always in good taste.

Haha...so what Shaq did was acceptable and in good taste, but LeBron does isn't?

It's because Shaq was a Laker. How about asking Kings fans if it was in good taste? Ask asian Houston fans if they were happy with what he said about Yao Ming.

Simply put, if LeBron was a Laker, it would be "in good taste" in your opinion, just as it was when Ronny Turiaf was dancing around and acting like a complete idiot on the bench when he was with us.

I'm done with the topic.

You have a point but Shaq is Shaq. It never came off as offensive. The Yao thing only blew up because up Stern's globalization plans. It was still funny though.

Bron's whole act comes off as childish. Maybe if Bron did it after he won a ring it would look different. Bron's mind should be on winning a championship. I should see fire in his eye and feel the passion of his game through my TV. But instead he has a team full of young players doing the river dance.

Win something first.

King this...King that?

What is he the King of? The City of Cleveland? HAHAHAHA LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

That's my point!

The Lakers didn't win a championship with Turiaf, though ;)
