La Bomba
Jerry Colangelo is looking to change the James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame induction process. Colangelo is the Hall of Fame's newly elected chairman of the board and wants fans and the media to have a say in who gets enshrined. "Nothing is etched in concrete at this point," Colangelo said. "I have to get my board to agree with me. I just believe it's the right thing to do and when you believe that and you're passionate about it, you usually can get something done." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/63484/20091218/colangelo_wants_fans_media_to_have_hof_vote/ 100% against this. BasX
I hate fans voting for the All-Star game, so I'm with you guys on this too.
La Bomba
This is what I said about the idea on another site. Funny because we both mentioned Yao Ming. Horrible idea. That way undeserving popular players would get in. Yao Ming is an example. Great player, but not a HOFer and the Chinese would do all they can to get him in. Poe
The fact that T-Mac actually has a chance at the all star game this year is all that needs to be said about allowing fans to vote for these things. I guess it's cool and all to let the fans vote for fun events like an all star game, but for something as big as the Hall of Fame..... BasX
Fans pick 42% of the players in the game. I think maybe the coaches pick the first 11, then the game have a fan vote, like they do in baseball.

bravenewworld
I hate fans voting for the All-Star game, so I'm with you guys on this too. I dont mind the All-Star game voting. Its not a bad thing for the fans to have one thing they can vote for, and its not like the all-star games actually matter in an NBA season or for a players career for that matter. I mean we call people all-stars as a way of promoting the abilities of a player, but if that players as good as suggested then there are plenty of other ways to suggest so. Anywho, got off the subject there. I think fans voting for HOF'ers is a terrible idea for one simple reason;People are stupid. If fans had the ability to vote for a Hall of Famer in the 2004-2005 season then they would have done a "write in" vote for Lebron James. Basically if the fans vote then it becomes a popularity contest over who actually deserves to be in.
