JYD
Calling all PC guru's out there, I need your help!... What I need: Laptop that's $500 or less. I REALLY don't want to go over 500, but if something that's 550 is THAT much better, I MIGHT consider it.What I'd use it for: A lot of internet surfing, music, possibly photoshop, word processing like essays for school...basic stuff mostly (which is why i dont want to spend over 500)Some I've considered: It has to be from best buy because I have two gift cards from x-mas to there, plus a bunch of other money i got for xmas. like i said, my budget is around 500. if it has to go to 550, i'll put it into consideration. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?id=pcat17080&type=page&initialize=false&sp=%2Bcurrentprice+skuid&nrp=15&iht=n&list=y&sc=abComputerSP&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%23205~~cabcat0502000%23%230%23%233d~~cpcmcat196200050013%23%230%23%231~~f518%7C%7C4c657373207468616e2024363030~~f551%7C%7C496e74656c26233137343b~~f628%7C%7C4f766572203230304742~~nf895%7C%7C57696e646f77732037&usc=abcat0500000&ks=960&st=processingtime%3A%3E1900-01-01&prids=&cp=1&_requestid=174882 those are some of the laptops im considering. please, someone who's educated, fill me in on which i should go for. thanks for the help.-jyd
OldChili
Personally I'd get something with at least Intel Core 2 Duo. And the only laptop $550 and under was this one. Click

fly3rs18
how much money for best buy do you have? cause you could probably get a much better deal online from newegg or some place like that. then you could use the best buy money for a case or something

Jenneral
Are you completely against getting a netbook?
JYD
Are you completely against getting a netbook?Pretty much. I will probably be doing some photoshoping, a ton of music, possibly some picture uploading as well. I really don't see how a netbook would fit what I'm going to use it for. (Sorry if this came off as offensive, I wasn't trying to be lol.)

Cobb
All I got to say is get what you want. Don't let other people's choices influence what you get. Unfortunately, I found that out the hard way.
JYD
A netbook would be able to do all of thatwhat are the main differences then
Jenneral
what are the main differences thenIt's smaller. Less room to store stuff I guess. You can always hook it up to a larger monitor, different keyboard, and usb mouse and you'll essentially have a nice big (depending on what monitor you have) desktop-like computer.
