Numbness in hands / fingers

Ok, I'm not sure what it is but I need to get it checked out next week by the doctor.

My hands get pins and needles in them all the time.

Happens mostly when there is a rubbing motion ranging anywhere from putting my hand through my hair, rubbing them together, or even spinning a football through my hands.

It's weird. It's not overboard pins and needles but it's there.

I have been trying to limit being on the pc (typing and using mouse), video games, playing with Blackberry, etc.

It's also the reason I dont design graphics that much anymore. :(

It's a pain in the [expletive]. Usually my hands kill me when I'm at work behind the desk 40 hours a week.

After reading it can be anything from muscle strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, to diabetes (which runs in my family, my mom and gmom have it).

Any ideas Brandon?

Well, it's Peripheral Neuropathy, but the cause is what's unknown.

I doubt it's diabetes. You'd have to be a diabetic for a while before picking up anything like that, meaning longer than a year...and you'd know if you were a diabetic within a month.

My dad has a pinched nerve in his neck, and it makes his hands numb. It's not bad enough to have surgery, though (his isn't)...but maybe that's the cause of your pain.

Otherwise, if it's not a pinched nerve, carpal tunnel sounds about right.

Not to scare you or anything, but in a worst-case scenario, liver and kidney diseases cause it, and so do some heart problems. But then again, you'd probably be feeling much more than just numbness if that were the case.

Thats like worst case scenario, dont scare the man lol.

Just throwing out possibilities. I used to have that feeling (except most of the time it was my feet and it only lasted for minutes), but I haven't had it in five years or so.

It might also be a vitamin D deficiency.

I am a very healthy person.

I eat right, dont smoke, and workout wieghts and cardio 4-5 times a week. :(

Which is probably why it's a pinched nerve or carpal tunnel. You can pinch a nerve without knowing it for a while, then it starts hurting your leg, or your hands, or anything...just out of the blue.

I would be surprised if it's anything other than those two.

Well. I got my results back.

I had blood taken and an EMG test on my nerves.

The doc said my blood work was unbelievably great and he thought I was a health nut because of how great it was.

The EMG revealed minor early stages of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I just gotta wear these wrist things when I sleep to keep them from bending, wrist wraps when I lift weights, and daily dosage of vitamin B6.
