Newman
If Arenas' contract was void, then that's probably the best thing that happened to the Wizards all season.
Guest California Dreamin'
We could, but we'd be responsible for his contract until it either expires or someone signs him. I hope he gets suspended for the rest of the season to be honest, maybe we'll start playing more efficiently with him out of the lineup. You can waive him without paying his remaining salary on his contract if he's convicted of a serious felony. The Wizards should waive Javaris, even if the NBA gives him a short suspension. The best thing the Wizards can do is start all over and build through the draft. AboveLegit
There might be scripture in NBA contracts prohibiting nonsense like this. If so, the Wizards may be able to void Arenas contract. He's not going to be punished too severely by the NBA yet because the NBA wants to wait before criminal investigations are concluded.Exactly. The Wizards are hoping Arenas gets a felony charge on this, meaning they don't have to pay for his contract and can just drop him that way. JWaLL
It sounds kind of weird that us true Wizards fans are hoping he gets convicted of a felony just so we can scrap his contract haha. Sad but true, the man dug his own hole. What the [expletive] is going through a well known professional athlete's head when he decides to pull a gun on his own teammate over a gambling? It's going to be REALLY hard to root for this team with all of the [expletive] that's been happening to them this year...
BasX
With all this going on I wonder, do you Wiz fans regret that your team traded that #5 pick for Foye and Miller? Edited January 2, 2010 by BasX
JWaLL
With all this going on I wonder, do you Wiz fans regret that you team traded that #5 pick for Foye and Miller?Actually, not really. Lost:-Oleksiy Pecherov: A waste-of-space 3 point chucking big man with zero basketball IQ and no box out ability.-Etan Thomas: Coming off open heart surgery, he is no longer an NBA worthy player. He has minimal endurance, little strength that can only last him a few minutes per game, and inconsistency on the rebounding end.-Darius Songaila: A solid role player and by far the most productive of the 3 we gave away, but nothing special. Another power forward who is all offense and no defense.-5th Pick: This last draft was definitely not one of the stronger drafts of this decade. If we kept the pick, we would have ended up drafting Jordan Hill. The Wizards front office stated that we would have picked James Harden if he was available, with Jordan Hill as the secondary choice. As we saw, Harden was picked #3, which would have lead us to picking Hill, who we can see with his performance with the Knicks so far that he is not an NBA quality big man... yet. As far as Miller and Foye go, there's a chance one of them (hopefully Miller) will resign with us. But if not, they are both expirings and that just means more cap room for us to pick at the free agency this summer. This team is long overdue for a rebuilding period, and even though the trade was not composed for that purpose, it looks like it could end up helping us in the long run. Rebuilding is a lengthy and painful process, but hopefully it will be worth it. And that is why our entire team has been placed on the trading block. Doc
Both should be suspended for the rest of the season. 1, breaking the law, and 2 putting their whole team in danger.
BlueDevil
its kinda sad that this is probably the best thing that could have happened to the wizards. They have said that everyone is available, meaning Arenas is available, problem is no one wants him and his meticulous contract. Luckily, Arenas doesn't have any sense about him, and gets in fights over $25,000, which should be nothing to the $111 million dollar man. If he had just paid Javaris, who will now never get a job in the NBA again, this wouldn't have happened. BTW- washington bullets joke= brilliant! bravenewworld
I think we are going to see Arenas out of DC faster then anyone thought. The Wizards now have reason to terminate his contract and will not owe him a single dime.
Celtics3420
why is only arenas getting this much heat lol. crittenden was wrong 2. in every article i read, it says gil drew his gun first, if so, Critt drawing his gun can be looked at as self defense.
