"That's not my decision," Del Negro said when asked if he deserved to finish his three-year deal. "It's easy for me to make that decision, but it's not mine. I have a lot of confidence not only in myself, but I think my staff has done a tremendous job. "They're very experienced and have been around. I'm going to keep on making sure we're prepared. Get these young guys continually developing and try to move in the right direction." The Chicago Tribune and Yahoo! Sports have reported that Bulls management doesn't support Del Negro. "It's been beat up so much," Del Negro said. "I want to just focus in on the game, concentrate on what my job is with this team. I think all that stuff will play itself out. We have to try to move forward a bit." Via Chicago Tribune---Discuss
Owner Real Deal Posted January 1, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted January 1, 2010 Well, I mean...the only choice he has is to coach and to keep his mouth shut about what's being said. There are better options out there, and I'm sure he knows that, so running his chops won't land him much except for a nice box with all of his stuff packed inside of it. The Bulls are also giving V.D.N. until the end of the month to fix this tragic show. It helps when you beat teams such as Detroit, Indiana, and New Orleans, but Del Negro is still on the hot-seat for sure.
Owner Real Deal Posted January 1, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted January 1, 2010 Detroit and Indiana have been bitten hard by the injury bug, so if Chicago didn't win those games, I wouldn't know what to think of their team. The New Orleans victory was impressive, but damn, getting Tyrus back proved to be big for Chicago. From what I watched of that game (since I get all Bulls games on WGN), Noah and Tyrus just DESTROYED West and Okafor, to the point where it made Chris Paul play a two-man game with Devin Brown...and there's no way in hell the Hornets were going to win like that. Chicago needs to start Noah and Tyrus together, and bring Salmons off the bench with Gibson, Johnson, Miller and Pargo. Thomas won't give you 20/10 every night, but he'll go after shots on the defensive end, and it would be a mess trying to drive the lane with both Noah and Thomas playing as vultures over your layups. I would've suggested Chicago tank the season, after seeing them give up a 35-point lead and losing to the NETS! Yeah, Okafor was scared to go into the lane, after being rejected by Thomas for going in too soft. Okafor kept second-guessing him the game and that cost New Orleans. Devin Brown was impressive in the first half, but he just deteriorated during the second half. Chicago needs to start Noah and Tyrus together, and bring Salmons off the bench with Gibson, Johnson, Miller and Pargo. Thomas won't give you 20/10 every night, but he'll go after shots on the defensive end, and it would be a mess trying to drive the lane with both Noah and Thomas playing as vultures over your layups.Tyrus still needs to condition himself, but I'm thinking Vinny Del Negro will go with that line-up, if he's still here when Thomas recovers. We really missed the defensive presence that Thomas provides for us, which Taj Gibson doesn't. Taj is a good defender and has a high defensive IQ, but he can't do things that Tyrus can, which is invaluable for the Bulls. Pargo's minutes have severely dropped, I thought he would get more playing time when he was signed. James Johnson, when he's been on the court, has been alright, he just needs more minutes to adjust to the game.
