The New York Knicks apparently are still protecting Isiah Thomas.

The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that the Knicks denied Magic Johnson a comp ticket to their game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 7, due in part to Johnson's criticism of Thomas, the team's former coach and team president.

It is no secret that Thomas remains close to Knicks owner James Dolan, who gave the former star point guard a long leash despite catastrophic damage that was done to the franchise under Thomas' watch.

The Knicks would neither confirm nor deny the story to the Daily News, but the newspaper reported that the club was looking to avoid a media firestorm if Johnson were present at a game.
