Well guys, I don't want to sound much like a troll, but I am a Bravos fan and from watching these last two games that we have played against you guys your team isn't clicking. No one seems to give a [expletive] and they all seem like they are ready for the post-season and wondering why they have to play 162 games before they get there. Rollins really needs to come back strong for you guys and show the team what winning is all about. Just my .02 cents.

I don't really buy the whole "they need Jimmy Rollins back, that's why they're playing so poorly" thing to be honest. I hear that A LOT from Phillies fans. Yes, he is a hell of a shortstop and I can't wait for him to get back healthy, but his absence is not why this team is sucking (although it is kind of convenient that this slump began when he got hurt for the 2nd time). There is way too much talent in this lineup for the loss of one guy to hurt them this much. As far as the offensive slump, this lineup has a bunch of guys who don't always make a lot of contact and strike out a lot (Howard and Werth in particular, Utley somewhat), so they do go into prolonged slumps. In the past, they have been spread out, so it's not like the whole team goes down with them. But this year it seems like they are all slumping at exactly the same time.

Also, with Placido Polanco out now as well, a left side of the infield of Wilson Valdez and Juan Castro (career OPS's of .577 and .601 respectively) just does not cut it for a Major League team. Here's to hoping that both of those guys (Rollins and Polanco) get back this weekend. Also, here's to hoping that since Utley, Howard and Werth all slumped at the same time, they all break out of it at the same time.

Also, on another side note, the Phillies have a better record at this point of the season than they did when they won the World Series in 2008. So all is not lost I suppose.

Yeah Phillies really need that strong offense to cover up that [expletive]ty pitching, btw is there a time table on Rollins at all? I wouldn't be surprised if he missed the whole year.

Lol, [expletive]ty pitching? Despite missing their 3 and 4 starters for most of the season thus far (one of them still out) and having a makeshift bullpen, they have the 6th best ERA in Major League Baseball (3.73). They are not winning because they are not hitting and they are playing horrendous defense (as I said, the poor defense has been the most disappointing part for me). But yeah, when you are getting shut out 5 times in a week, you could have a rotation of Lincecum, Jimenez, Halladay, Santana, and Wainwright and you are not going to win many games.

And Jimmy Rollins should be back this weekend. Early next week at the latest. You were close! :)

Also, J-Werth is leading off today. Interesting.

Yeah we'll see how long the pitching can keep that up, as for Rollins those calf injuries are tricky, if he comes back I wouldn't expect him to be 100% and I also would not be surprised if he got injured again. Just going to ignore your little friend.

My only hope is that he is 100% healthy when he gets back this time. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but I felt as if they rushed along his recovery the first time, and sure enough in his 4th game back he re-injured it. It seems like it's his goal to be back as soon as he's allowed off the DL this time. If he needs an extra week, I hope he takes it. But, assuming he does come back this weekend and assuming he is completely healthy, we will be getting he and Placido Polanco both back, so we will have a real top of the order for a change. That will certainly help things, I'd imagine.

Love it...Kyle Kendrick goes 7 innings, 1 earned, and this team finds a way to [expletive] a brick. I was stuck with GameDay today, did not see any of the video. Don't want to either. Unreal.

Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals is on Wednesday, so I sold my Phillies-Marlins tickets for that night. I may come to regret that decision (although I doubt it). It looks as if it will be Roy Halladay vs. Josh Johnson, and Mike Stanton will be playing in his 2nd MLB game.

Lol if the Knicks were in the playoffs I'd sell my Mets tickets in a second. At least regular season tickets, even if it was Johan-Halladay. Sucks for Josh Johnson, 2 starts vs Halladay in 3 starts.

The bats live!!

And Jamie Moyer gets his 100th win after turning 40. Pretty incredible. Complete game too. His 2nd complete game of the year, as a 47 year old.

Wow, the Phillies turned a 5-3-5 double play. Don't see that every day...

Shocking, I was watching on MLB.TV, Howard F'd up not going for the 3-6-4 DP, but made up for it with that heads up play.

I think it was more Tony Gwynn making a dumb decision, but it was definitely encouraging seeing Ryan have the confidence to make a good throw across the diamond.

Hmm, wonder if Jon Garland is complaining about Citizens Bank Park being a "joke ballpark" today, seeing as these "joke dimensions" just gave his team a win. Yeah, you see Jon, it goes both ways...

Also, I am wondering if Chase Utley is injured. I generally think it is lame to automatically assume injury when a guy is slumping, but something is very very wrong with him right now.

Well, today was an epic failure by every aspect of this organization. Brutal loss on the field, brutal first round draft pick, brutal everything. Wondering if it's time for some changes. Just not sure what they could possibly be.

Also, for the record, it's really really awesome for the kid they drafted. He is from the area and gets picked in the first round by his home town team, doesn't get much cooler. But there were way way way better options on the board.

Bright spot:

The Phillies are in the midst of some of the worst baseball they have played since the 90s, yet they are just 2 games out of first place. All is not lost. If Utley, Howard, and Werth snap out of their slumps at any point, this will be OK.

Offensively at least, the pitching has been relatively on point, and it's not like they didn't just split a series with one of the best records in the NL.

Jayson Werth is in a typical "slump". He is prone to them. He will be alright, I am confident about it. Same with Ryan Howard. Howard's power has not been there yet this year, but it's not like he's been terrible either. He is still getting on base. Obviously you want more power out of him, but like Werth, I am confident that will come around. The only core hitter I am starting to really worry about is Chase Utley. His slump is uncharacteristically long. The only time I have seen him look so lost at the plate for such a long span of time was the second half of 2008, when he was playing with an injured hip.

Also, matchups for the Phillies/Marlins series:

Tonight: Chris Volstad @ Kyle Kendrick

Tomorrow: Josh Johnson @ Roy Halladay (!!!)

Thursday: Anibal Sanchez @ Jamie Moyer

Same 3 matchups as the series last weekend in Miami.
