Cobb
I <3 Ryan Howard. He's the man.
Phightins
He is usually the most chill dude ever. I have never seen him go off on an umpire like that.

Phightins
Might just be a scheduled day off. His swing has not looked right since he came off the DL. They did the same thing with Utley a couple days ago.
Teletopez
I pity Phillies nation... http://i37.tinypic.com/snp5zm.jpg Michael Bourn Called Safe Even after the Ryan Zimmerman incident a few days ago, Scott Barry doesn't learn anything and throws out Howard. Phightins
That basically sums it up. Except for Chris Wheeler's "analysis" on the Howard video, as usual he is totally clueless. Edited August 25, 2010 by Phightins
Phightins
Also, I am going to the game tonight. Can't wait to see Scott Barry get introduced.
Phightins
I know they do this [expletive] every year, and every year (to this point) they have recovered, but the [expletive]ing Houston Astros should not be coming here in the end of August and sweeping a 4 game series. Phightins
Of course, right when Danys Baez starts pitching reasonably well for the first time all year, he hits the DL with back spasms.
Phightins
Baseball is a funny game. Swept at home by a bad team, go on the road and sweep the team with the best record in the league. Go figure.
Phightins
Chase Utley and Ryan Howard each have OPSs down at least 100 points from the end of last season. Utley is generally always over .900, and there is a chance he can go under .800 tonight for basically the first time ever. Definitely a huge reason for the offense being so inconsistent. Phightins
Per usual, the Phillies aren't making a whole lot of September call-ups. It actually makes sense...no need to clog up the clubhouse and potentially mess up chemistry in the middle of a pennant chase. Guys up so far are Paul Hoover and Greg Dobbs, and Ross Gload has been activated from the DL. They will need a spot starter on Monday for the double header, and all signs point to Vance Worley getting the call for that one (he was pulled after 1 inning tonight in his AAA start). After Worley, I don't see them making many, if any more additions. Perhaps an extra arm or 2 for the bullpen. Maybe Mike Zagurski and/or Scott Mathieson. La Bomba
Has nothing to do with sports, but I thought this would be the best place to ask without making a new topic. How's Temple and Temple's campus like? I'm going to apply there, but I'm not sure I'm going to visit it.

How's Temple and Temple's campus like? I'm going to apply there, but I'm not sure I'm going to visit it. I have only been there a couple of times. North Broad Street is not the nicest area in town, but I have a couple friends at Temple who like the school a lot.
Phightins
Roy Halladay amazes me. He can have marginal stuff and still get through 7.
Phightins
Scott Mathieson, Vance Worley, and Nate Robertson will be called up tomorrow.

Phightins
Nate Robertson DFA'd and Scott Mathieson placed on the DL. After last night, everyone saw the Robertson move coming. With him being DFA'd, one would have to think that Cody Ransom will be added to the 40-man roster with J-Roll hurt. And to take Mathieson's spot, the Phillies picked up Cesar Carrillo off waivers from San Diego. This is interesting, since Carrillo was a first round pick just 5 years ago. Phightins
Lost in the mess of the Eagles game today is that Jimmy Rollins is headed back to Philadelphia for an MRI, and suddenly this looks like it could be a huge deal. Per usual, the Phillies are bull[expletive]ting the media and general public as to the severity. I certainly hope this is just a precaution but I am expecting the worst. Brian Bocock brought up to the active roster as well. Them feeling that they need an extra shortstop say might not be a good sign. The good news is that Roy Oswalt is a machine! Phightins
Good news (but bad news for Cobb). Roy Oswalt is being bumped up from Saturday to Friday. This lines up the big 3 to all face the Braves next week (Hamels Monday, Halladay Tuesday, and Oswalt Wednesday). And with the two additional off days after that series, they could easily line this up again for the series in Atlanta also.
Phightins
So, Scott Boras (now representing Jayson Werth) has called the Phillies a "nice alternative". Happy trails, J-Dub...
