I'd say you should use the M4A1, which you should have very soon.

 

Once you get some perks unlocked, I strongly suggest using:

 

 

M4A1

AA-12 Shotgun

Scavenger

Hardline

Ninja

Claymores

Theres no real tricks though..u get better by practicing. I advice just using famas, and m4a1 in the beginning. Learn the maps real well though(where campers hide, where the action takes place..etc)..when you do youll see yourself getting better.

UMP whatever(sub machine gun) i recommend starting off with. Since you just started, it should be one of the classes set up for you. It's pretty beast lol.

I agree the UMP is studly. Also I don't suggest using a shotty of the bat, also I suggest using Stopping Power, add strength to your bullets. Make sure you stick to walls and [expletive], always walk so you know what is behind you. If you run out in the wide open you are almost sure to just get picked off. There is a lot of camping in the game I would say, especially in deathmatch, and honestly it is gonna be hard off the bat. You might struggle but you will learn opponents typical tendencies, it is definitely not an easy game IMO. Once you learn the maps and what guns you like, you will improve quickly. Just try out things, don't worry so much about how you do at first.

 

I also suggest maybe using a silencer on your gun at first as well, Bling allows two attachments so you can have a dot and a silencer, this is something I would suggest unless you are particularly good without a scope.

 

Also I don't think that campaign emulates what online is like at all, you will learn the controls better playing campaign, but online will still be hard at first because everyone you are playing is familiar with the maps and know the spots and camp.

 

It is a good game though, it is a lot of fun, but the camping can get annoying, like I said just don't go running out into the wide open where there is a lot of places to get shot from. Don't sprint around corners too much because if you do then you run into someone you won't get your aim out in time. Just practice makes perfect I guess lol.

Get used to knowing where people go on the maps. Create a private match for yourself and just kind of scope out the maps, where decent shooting places are. You get used to tendencies that people use pretty fast.

My K/D is the highest on my friends list.

 

1) Stopping power is not a must, I use Hardline and have a 1.63 k/d

2) Knowing the maps are somewhat important, but it always comes down to raw skill.

3) Scavenger is the most underrated perk in the game.

 

The AUG HBAR is the best gun in the game, and it has awesome iron sights, so no need for a red dot.

 

For kill streaks

 

Predator Missile

Harrier Strike

Chopper Gunner

 

Will always get you the most kills.

 

Basically, you need a 4 kill streak. If you can get 4, you should get two more with the Predator, leading to the Harrier. You should get 4 more with the Harrier, leading to the Chopper Gunner. Chopper Gunner = anywhere from 5 to 15 kills. Yum.

I agree with the predator, harrier, CG but Smitty just use the 3,4,5 setup for now. Use assult rifles btw...they completely dominant this game..the UMP is nice, but for a rook, I would def advice the famas, scar or m4.

I go with Predator-Harrier-Pavelow and I have a 24 killstreak. My Harrier is never good enough to get me up to a Chopper Gunner or AC130.

 

Also there is no single best gun in the game, it is purely based on preference. You could argue the FAMAS is the best, or the M16, or ACR. Stopping power I agree is important but some people don't need it, not everyone does.

 

Just practice the game, to start just test [expletive] out, you will quickly learn what you like best.
