Legacy
NEW YORK (AP)—Maybe the award should be renamed Most Valuable Peyton. Peyton Manning(notes) became the first player to win The Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player honors four times. The Indianapolis Colts’ sensational quarterback romped to the award Saturday in balloting by 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league. He received 39 1/2 votes to 7 1/2 for Drew Brees(notes) of New Orleans. Only four players — all quarterbacks—earned votes. The other two were Philip Rivers(notes) of San Diego (2) and Brett Favre(notes) of Minnesota (1).Source
The Regime
Congrats to Manning, I wanted CJ to win it but I have no complaints.
xx.
MVP voting is absolutely terrible in the NFL. For a 2000 yard rusher to even receive ONE single vote is a [expletive]in outrage.
BasX
CJ has OPOY in the bag, so this doesn't bother me too much.

His Greatness
MVP voting is absolutely terrible in the NFL. Congrats to Manning, he absolutely deserved the award.
Phightins
MVP = most valuable player, not necessarily best statistical season. I'd say Manning getting this is a no brainer.
Owner Real Deal Posted January 9, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted January 9, 2010 Johnson was amazing, but I have to say that this was Manning's well-deserved award. If you cycle through what he had to deal with all season long, including the injuries, and also the simple fact that the Colts would be undefeated today had they played Manning and their starters (which is another no-brainer), nobody else should've gotten close to touching the MVP award other than Peyton. Earlier in the season, I stated that Brees was the best QB in the NFL...but eventually, my opinion changed. A healthy Brady is right there on Manning's heels, but Peyton is unbelievable. xx.
Its obvious Chris Johnson wasnt going to win it, however, I'm saying not even receiving one vote is terrible.
His Greatness
If your team doesn't make it into the postseason, you're excluded from qualifying. It's an unwritten rule for this award in every sport.
kingfish
I think Favre should have won it. Wasnt he like the first QB to throw 33 tds with only 7 interceptions? Thats an unbelievable year for him.
ChosenOne
Obvious pick for MVP. I though Chris Johnson would at least get second though.
