Cobb
Talk about having an unlucky debut. Two runs resulting from bloops (one the most perfect bloop double ever), a third run because of an outfield boot, a fourth run because of a brutal infield error, and a HBP that barely grazes (if at all) the edge of a sleeve. To top it all off he misses out on his first hit and RBI getting thrown out by the RF at first. Unluckiest debut ever? I think so.
Phightins
Ouch, Chipper Jones is out for the season.
Cobb
What a terrible way to go out. Worst part about it is that he was just starting to heat up. A sure Hall of Fame player and teammate. I'd love for him to be the Braves hitting coach one day.

Phightins
He seemed very cheery today for a dude having surgery tomorrow and who might never play again.
Cobb
Chipper Jones underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Saturday morning, his agent B.B. Abbott said. “It went very well,” Abbott said in a text message from Piedmont Hospital. The surgery was performed by Braves orthopedic surgeon Dr. Marvin Royster, the same surgeon who performed the first surgery Jones had for a torn anterior crucate ligament in 1994. Saturday’s surgery took too hours, Abbott said, and a graft was transplanted from the heel of a cadaver. The surgery was outpatient, so Jones got to head home by mid afternoon. Rehabiliation is expected to take six months. Jones said Friday he will make a comeback attempt with the Braves in spring training.Glad to hear it went well. Hopefully around December he'll be able to determine whether he'll be able to play or not.
Cobb
ajcbravesPrado still felt some pain in his right pinky finger hitting indoors Friday. So his return early next week may be in doubt.----- Lovely.

Phightins
The Braves acquired Derrek Lee today, a trade which I do not understand. They already have a right-handed first baseman who is going to give them Derrek Lee-like production, named Troy Glaus. Lee brings slightly better defense I suppose, but this seems like another lateral move (like the trade for Ankiel and Farnsworth).

I'm just curious as to who we would send in order to get him. Edited August 18, 2010 by Cobb

Phightins
Cobb, you should start going to games. And bring a couple thousand of your friends too. Seriously, a team in first place and playing great baseball in the middle of August should be getting more than 18,000 fans to their games. Hopefully I'll be able to attend some playoff games too. As for the attendance problem, I have no idea what's going on. No one really seems to care about sports in Atlanta since we haven't won anything recently. Edited August 19, 2010 by Cobb

Cobb
What's the magic number? Or are the Bravos the new Mets I have no idea TBH. I just hate the fact that we can't score more then one run on a pitcher who has a career ERA of 6.17. It's also pretty fun that we can't hit his fastball which was like 88mph.
