Thunder To Be Patient.

Recommended Posts

The Thunder have a sizable amount of cap space, but sources told ESPN.com that they are unlikely to use it.

ESPN's John Hollinger wrote that "given that the best available young players -- Utah's Paul Millsap, New York's David Lee and Milwaukee's Ramon Sessions, all restricted free agents -- are poor fits on the Thunder's roster, OKC plans to continue with its patient approach rather than overpaying for parts that don't fit especially well."

That is good news for the Jazz, who are hoping to retain Millsap.

i somewhat agree with waiting for better fits, we have developing bigs White, Hardin(not harden), Mullens, Ibeka. they are yet to prove that they can come off the bench and produce. where as Millsap has already proven he can be a starter in the league.

ill have to take a look at next years FA and see whos out there

Its the right decision. Presti has done a fantastic job building that team and gaining assets. Just because you have cap space doesn't mean that you should just go ahead and throw it out there. The Thunder are better off not overpaying for players like Paul Millsap and David Lee. Let your young players develop for another season and then re-evaluate your roster at the end of the year and decide what you need to do to take the team to the next level. They are better off just saving the cap room for next season and getting a guy that will truly make an impact than overpaying for guys like Lee or Millsap this offseason because they would not be worth the money that it would take to draw them away from their current teams if you ask me.

Are the Thunder a money pinching team? Just curious, they have all this young talent, but are they a team that will be willing to go into the lux tax when these guys are ready to contend? Or are they going to be like the old Hawks and ship out these guys once they need to get paid?

If they are ready to shell out the money save it for 2010 when KD and co. are a year older and they might be ready to be good by then.

Nah this company is very smart, i like what their doing and i suggest the Trailblazers do the same with their young team and money..

Lee would however be worth spending a bit on but Millsap nor Ramon would .. i think they also should try and sign Odom.. if they could get him they are really strong in their front court in terms of rebounding which last season was poor ..
