The Regime
WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been charged with a felony in connection with last month's locker room confrontation with a teammate. Arenas, who was suspended indefinitely without pay by NBA commissioner David Stern last week, was charged with carrying a pistol without a license outside a home or business. The charges were filed in D.C. Superior Court in an "information," a document that generally signals a plea deal. The Washington Post reported if convicted, Arenas could face a maximum five years in jail and a fine. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4826597
Owner Real Deal Posted January 14, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted January 14, 2010 Felonies are grounds for contract termination, I believe.
Cobb
I doubt he'll get much time. Maybe a year at most. He better get ready for probation and a lot of community service hours though.
AboveLegit
Felonies are grounds for contract termination, I believe. He can still plea bargain though, so the chances are, he's charged for a misdemeanor I believe.
Check my Stats
Hopefully we never have to see his mug in the NBA again.
JWaLL
Felonies are grounds for contract termination, I believe. The Players Union is going to fight on Gilbert's behalf, so terminating his contract won't be that easy (although I wish it was). Also, it is highly doubtful Gil will receive any jail time. He has already pleaded guilty and is currently in the works of a plea bargain. At most he'll probably receive community service and/or probation, as well as a semi-long term suspension.
