The Regime
Memphis is discussing a potential trade in which they would acquire Ronnie Brewer from the Utah Jazz. The discussions have centered around which first round pick the Grizzlies would send to Utah. Memphis is not willing to part with its own 2010 pick, but could part with a pick owned by either Denver of the Lakers. Brewer earns $2.7 million and will be a restricted free agent this summer. A qualifying offer would cost $3.7 million. http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/64166/20100121/memphis_talking_trade_for_ronnie_brewer/
Celtics3420
Is he gonna come off the bench? Giving a 1st for a guy to come off the bench isn't a good idea IMO especially when Mayo/Gay are gonna get the majority of the minutes at the wing spots. I guess if they rotate nicely, they can fill up to 30 MPG for Brewer. Who are the back-ups for Memphis right now? BlueDevil
wouldnt be a bad idea as he would give the Grizz a solid wing to guard the other teams best player, but as was said, Brewer would have to come off the bench. I dont think this deal will happen, especially cuz the Grizz are doin better then anyone would have imagined. Why mess with that?
La Bomba
We need some one off the bench. The starters are going to eventually fatigue late into the season from playing 40 minutes a game every night. I love Rodney Brewer and if you look at some of my past posts I've brought up trying to trade for him. The perfect player we need.
The Regime
Hasnt Sam Young been pretty good off the bench this season?
La Bomba
He's the only legit scoring option off the bench.
La Bomba
I was looking around the Grizzlies board and they were saying that if this goes down it could mean Mayo is closer to playing point. PG: MayoSG: BrewerSF: GayPF: RandolphC: Gasol Conley, Young, Thabeet, Tinsley off the bench.
Newman
It would be a nice trade, although I am not sure about Mayo playing point. Conley is not doing a bad job at the moment as a pass-first PG.
