Big Trade for Philly in the works?

The Sixers are only growing more determined to make a deal before the deadline. I’ve heard that in strong terms from three different sources this week already.

Which tells me we should expect to keep hearing more trade scenarios that include Andre Iguodala’s name.

Foiled in its longstanding attempts to move Samuel Dalembert and/or Elton Brand, Philly has apparently come to realize that its best shot at a shake-it-up move is convincing one of the risk-taking/big-spending teams out there – such Houston, Dallas and Cleveland – to absorb the four years and $56.3 million remaining on Iguodala’s contract after this season.

So trade one of the few players on your team that plays both offense and defense? I don't get this.

If they are truly looking to deal Iggy, it's to wipe out the contract...and that means they probably won't get anything out of him.

And THAT means they might as well rebuild.

I heard on the radio yesterday that the Stephanski said they will not make a trade just for expiring contracts.

He said that he wants to get plyers in return that will improve the team now.

So I guess that means no TMac.

Well, it was reported yesterday (or the day before) that Houston was in deep pursuit of Andre Iguodala and Caron Butler, so I guess this means they'll be dealing more than just McGrady if they want them, and because of that, they'd need to take back Dalembert, as salaries are too far off to make a deal like that work.

So, if that's true about Ed wanting a talented player back, I don't think a trade will be made between the two teams because, honestly, I don't see the Rockets taking Dalembert.

With that said, if Ed does want those young players, I don't see why Iggy is being shopped.

That might be it but by each passing day I begin to doubt any possible deal happening even more. The only other two buyers in the league right now (Dallas, Cleveland) make better trading partners than we do. Dallas is willing to part with Josh Howard and Cleveland isn't as picky as Houston is in the deal, they wouldn't mind taking back salary. In fact in recent reports it seems that the Sixers front office is favoring a deal Cleveland (I don't know about Dallas) over the Rockets because they might be willing to take back Dalembert. I don't mind that though, Houston is actually playing smart but not wanting to take on Dalembert (especially with the talk of a lockout next season).

There was an 'insider' on the Sixers board and supposedly Philly offered a Lou Williams/Iggy/Dalembert for T-Mac/Lowry deal but Houston turned it down.

Maggette, Speedy Claxton, and Devean George for Iggy.

Maggette could help now and two expiring contracts.

A source told ESPN.com on Wednesday that the Houston Rockets have recently renewed discussions with the 76ers about a deal involving Iguodala and Dalembert for the expiring contract of Tracy McGrady. And as I reported above, the Suns have also entered the mix, offering Amare Stoudemire for Iguodala and Dalembert. The Cavs and Dallas Mavericks have explored Iguodala deals as well.

Slowing discussions at the moment is the fact that the Sixers really want to get some talent back in such a deal. The Rockets have players to offer, and the Suns might be willing to throw in Leandro Barbosa, I'm told.

Interesting, so now Houston is willing to take on Dalembert? Still doubt we get him though, Suns look like the front runners.

Apparently the Iguodala/Dalembert for Stoudemire talks are gaining a lot of momentum and Phoenix really wants Dre.

That brings us to the trade possibility of the Sixers sending Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert to Phoenix in exchange for Stoudemire. At first glance, this deal would appear unappealing to Phoenix only because they have said they would not like to take back any long-term deals. Iguodala has four years remaining on his contract and he currently makes more than $12 million. Dalembert stands to make more than that number next season, the final year of his deal.

However, an NBA source told CSNPhilly.com that “Phoenix desperately wants Andre. They are pushing this, that I know for a fact.”

Trading with Philadelphia could get the Suns more help right away, perhaps someone like Andre Iguodala, Marreese Speights or even Detroit's Ben Gordon if a third team gets involved.

Speights? Um no I dont think so.

i would hate for this trade to happen but i would love to see how mason feels about it lmao.

If we're going to blow it up, I would prefer it to be Brand instead of Sammy. I have no qualms with hanging on to Dalembert's contract for one more year.

Iguodala and Dalembert are the superior players in this deal — why would you hate it? Do you not want a championship?
