Shots Fired: Kaman-''Gasol Shouldn't Be An All-Star''

Clippers center Chris Kaman doesn't think Lakers forward Pau Gasol deserves to be in next month's All-Star Game.

 

"I don't think Gasol should be in it at all," Kaman said when asked if he would be disappointed if Gasol is moved over to backup center when West coaches vote for All-Star reserves. "He's only played like 20 games (he played Thursday in his 25th out of 42 Lakers games) this year. I think there should be a number of games you should play. I think you should have to play like 80 percent of the games.

 

"It shouldn't be 50 percent (of games a player has logged) over a guy who plays 90 percent and who has better numbers. Not just me. Zach Randolph, a power forward, he has better numbers (than Gasol). But he's not on the Lakers."

 

Gasol is averaging 16.8 points and 11.1 rebounds to 20.4 points and 9.2 rebounds for Kaman, who has played in 38 of 42 games.

 

"I don't think he's a center," said Kaman, who added that he also thinks he's more deserving of an All-Star selection than Andrew Bynum.

Zach Randolph has more of a case than either of them.

I would say i agree. But this one is up to the coaches, and i think zach randolph would be preferred in this case if he wasn't more of a PF. I dont think anyone has a chance over Dirk, at the PF spot. Kaman has been playing pretty well this season and he deserves the nod over Pau this year, especially after what Shaq did to Pau

I actually agree with him. A player should have to play a certain percentage of games. That would be a great solution to replace guys like AI and KG for truly deserving all stars.

I would put Zach Randolph over both of them, but seriously since when did people start caring about what Kaman has to say?

Gasol has just been "decent" this year, plus he has missed way too many games. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make the allstar team, nor will I be disappointed.

 

I think Chris Kaman and Zach Randolph both have legitimate arguments to win a trip to Dallas.

Randolph has been having a much better season than Gasol and he's actually been able to play. The "he's putting up good numbers on a bad team" excuse is no longer valid with Randolph because the Grizzlies are a playoff contending team and most of that is thanks to Randolph.
