Wizards Unlikely To Trade Haywood

Recommended Posts

The Wizards aren't expected to trade center Brandon Haywood prior to February's deadline.

Washington is expected to field offers for a majority of their roster due to their struggles and the gun charges surrounding Gilbert Arenas.

"A source close to the situation doesn't expect Wizards to trade Brendan Haywood before Feb. 18 trade deadline. He's a free agent this summer," Chris Tomasson of FanHouse wrote on his Twitter page.

If they are sure that Haywood is going to resign with the team in the offseason than this is a smart move on their behalf. I really like the way that Haywood plays, particularly on the defensive end of the floor. He is a big body who can change and alter shots, but unlike most big bodied centers he is able to actually step outside of the paint a bit and guard (although I would rather have him in the paint protecting the hoop). He is one of the few Wizard players who I actually like and would welcome on my team (assuming I had a team, lol) any day of the week.

If he doesn't resign though they might look back and regret not trading him as I think that a contending team looking to add some depth to their frontcourt would be very interested in acquiring a player like Haywood.
