reno
I vote for Bigdog17k for member of the year, no one simply rolls harder than a bigdog. Most Improved poster I chose chosenone out of iffy since I was not here the previous year. Go California i guess. Most valuable fanbase available i voted for was the LA Lakers, simply have the most fans. The most memorable moment, I unfortunately was not here before/during the hack, But I did join around the time when OTR was brought back to life. I voted for the Resurrection of otr. Most underrated poster I voted for would be IBoldin, he never has a disappointing post and shows great knowledge/understanding. Best matchup in a debate I voted for would be Real Deal and Erik Blasco as they usually bring the best to the table in regards of debates. Best GFX Designer I voted for was Bigdog17k, as he really has a great ability in designing sigs/wallpapers. He has a great taste and knows style. Twin-tower awards I voted for Confidence and Chosenone one, cause to be honest half the time i get confused by these posters on whos who. Its like they are twins i dunno. Owner Real Deal Posted January 27, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted January 27, 2010 I still don't understand what most underrated poster is supposed to mean.Just like an underrated player. It's a poster who doesn't get enough credit for his knowledge, his contributions, and very few may reply to him because of it.
Poe
Just like an underrated player. It's a poster who doesn't get enough credit for his knowledge, his contributions, and very few may reply to him because of it.The only time people are being given credit is now. So, from what I'm understanding, it's kind of unfair to make the most valuable and the most underrated poll at the same time.

Legacy
While there are smart Laker fans, I feel that every Raptors fan on this forum is very educated about basketball and it's fun to read their thoughts on their team. They have more quality than any forum, but the Lakers have the quantity.

Cobb
Member of the year: bigdog17k, he's a pretty cool guy and has been active pretty much since the resurrection. Most Improved Member: kingfish, I think everyone knows why Most Valuable Fanbase/Team Forum: Lakers, it's the most active Most Memorable Moment: The Resurrection Most Underrated Poster: Erick Blasco, he's not the most active guy in the world but when he posts its always a good one Best Match-up in a Debate: Two most knowledgeable members in my eyes so who wouldn't want to see it Best GFX Designer: GuRu, I like his style Twin Towers Award (post alike, think alike, etc): I don't think an explanation is needed
BasX
BFTSupports everything he says and is very knowledgeable. Understands the game very well.MilwaukeeBucksFrom what I can remember, he seems to be developing his arguments better and making better posts and showing an improvement that if it continues should be nominated for 2010 member of the yearRaptors (bias )I love my forum, that is all. The quality is top notchResurrectionRebuilding is better then destructionLa BombaNeeds to post a little more but his college ball knowledge is second to none. Wished Memphis was a little better though.BFT/BlascoTwo of the smartest guys on the forum. All three choices are good GuRuThey are all good, I picked GuRu because he won the challenge and I like his style. All 4 are awesome.Philly boysThis isn't so much think alike, but the desire they share for their teams is awesome to see and it's nice to see them post in areas and discuss topics that at times could have trouble getting going and they both find ways to create discussion. JWaLL
I'm with Poe on this, I don't really understand the underrated poster thing. I would think the nominees would be the "silent but contributing" members, which would mean members who don't have many posts but still contribute plenty. I don't see why I would be nominated for it when I have one of the highest post counts. But whatever, it's nice to be nominated lol. Owner Real Deal Posted January 28, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted January 28, 2010 Simply put, you think that Antawn Jamison is underrated because he wasn't chosen as an all-star, despite his contributions. Also, how many people actually give him credit for his numbers? Same with the underrated poster. I consider Wali an underrated member because he does a TON for OTR, as a mod, a member and someone who runs our Youtube...but does anyone actually give him props? They could do it in a topic he posts a video in, they could say it in the anniversary topic, they can say it anywhere on the site (as many just go off-topic to begin with). He also makes very intellectual posts, but very few reply to them. A +1 rep would be the thing to do as well, but he's sitting at seven right now. Poe says we don't give anyone credit until this poll, but that's not true. The examples are above. People give reputation points. Was Wali nominated for MVP? He didn't get enough votes to land him in the top nominated group. Even in the NBA, the only official time you are given credit for anything would be the All-Star game and the end-of-season awards, correct? Underrated players, underrated members, same boat...just as the MVP of the league and the MVP of OTR.

Sounds more clear, I was just confused because I didn't really see how someone with a very high post count can be underrated.

Not saying there is anything wrong with repping a good joke or a small but well said statement, but long thought out posts don't normally get a whole lot of credit through rep. And your talking about Antawn not being an all star, well that's like [insert member here] not being nominated as a most valuable member. Plus, analysts discuss players values all the time. We hardly ever discussed the value of specific members until now.

You're trying to debate me over an award topic that includes a category most everyone ALWAYS has when they do these, and one that we've had for the 3-4 years we've done them. It looks like most everyone knows what it means. In other words, if we were to discuss who the best posters on the site are, which would be left out of the discussion? And among those, which SHOULD have been inserted into it? It's not hard to figure out, but I'm done talking about it.

I don't see how talking about rep, disagreeing with your point on Jamison, and disagreeing with your point on how an underrated player is the same thing as an underrated member = "I want an award". Besides, I asked about the underrated member thing since the nominations, before the voting thread. And actually, I don't even want any awards whatsoever. I'll ask for them when I deserve one, but then again, if I did deserve them I would have been nominated in the first place without having to ask. And you're talking about "trying to debate me" as if I'm attacking you through words. All I'm doing is just stating my opinion on something I don't agree with. Back to underrated member awards, I don't care who else has done it. I need a way to understand how members are rated to know who is the most underrated member is, so I can fairly nominate and vote. Again, this is the first time members are being rated, yet the most underrated is brought up in the same poll. Owner Real Deal Posted January 29, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted January 29, 2010 ...dude, NBA players are never "rated" either. What rating system do you see in the NBA? Yet, all of a sudden, they have fans voting for an all-star game? You're getting too technical for no reason at all. If you don't get the award, don't vote. It's that simple. I've explained it three different ways, and there are over 30 people who understand the award. The next time a topic asks you about an underrated player, I'll remember this. In fact...check this out: Alston has played good D, but is inconsistent with his threes and his shooting tendency is a bit high for my taste. I hope the Heat go after Steve Blake this offseason. He's underrated, a very good friend of UD, and his whole skillset is exactly what I believe the Heat will need. When has anyone ever "rated" Steve Blake? What is his current "rating" in the NBA? Just explain that to me...
