Blogging about the NBA?

Real Deal

If anyone wants a place to just blog about any team, player or game, anytime, without feeling like you're creating irrelevant message board topics, you guys can just come over to my blog (AllDayNBA) and register, and I'll set you up with writing access. You need to know how to use WordPress, though...and we can go over that in here...but it's just giving you guys an opportunity to write how you feel.

Message boards are more for news and discussions. The blogs are better for those who just want to rant every night.

If you start writing articles on the blog, you can post them over here as well...and if I see you're doing a great job with WordPress, you can write for the homepage here at OTR.

Let me know if you're interested. When you register (with whatever nickname you want), come back here and PM me your full name (or just post it here in the topic). I would like for all of the bloggers to use their full names, and I'll change it for you once you get that far.

I've always wanted to try it but my activity is on and off so I can't really promise much. Lately I've been trying to get back to writing but struggled finding the time.

It's not a requirement, no quota or anything like that. Just dive into it and write whenever. :)

^I see. In that case sign me up. :)

Full name: Taha Zeeshan Mohiuddin.

I prefer my middle name over my first if that is of any importance.

Probably best you register, so you use a real email and have a password you can remember (you'll eventually change it, I believe). Doesn't take but 10 seconds, haha. :)

But just use "Dash" as your log-in name, or whatever you wish...and then I'll go in and add your real name.

You and Lkr are approved to write.

Before you guys submit an article, just send me a PM and I'll explain some important things about WP.

And to those who were already registered (like Blasco and Steve, and the other writers and former writers), just let me know if you're interested, and I'll re-activate your accounts. :)

I'm not a great writer, but I'm going to sign up so I can get some exposure. I just registered with the same username I have on OTR.

My name is Umair Khan. Thanks B :)

I know how to use Wordpress, used it a lot in the past. I guess it's the same for this blog, if not, then I may need some help.

Just a few things about posting articles...

http://i47.tinypic.com/2h5vi3l.jpg

See the button shown by the red circle? That's the "More" button. You need to use this after a couple of your paragraphs, and it's VERY important that you don't forget. This keeps your article from filling the entire front page, and allows readers to click a link to read the rest of it. VERY important.

Also, note the tags I used. Most of those you want to use every single article you write, then certain player names and team names/cities. I'm sure you can tell which ones you'll want to add for every article.

The category...make sure it's just ONE. If it's not about a particular team, choose the NBA General category. There's also one for Power Rankings, and even a College Basketball category.

Finally, when adding an image, upload it elsewhere and THEN use the option to add it from the URL (there will be a tab to do so, once you choose an upload/insert option).

Use the spell check. You'd be amazed at what you'd find spelled wrong.

If any of you need help, just let me know.

i wanna do this but i don't kno much about word press lol.

i got microsoft word if that means anything lmao.

Wordpress is similar to the forums, actually. Same concept, just a little different.

What about how it was before where say the articles I post in the articles forum, I could also post on wordpress. I'd have no problems posting the articles up on AllDayNBA again.

That's not a problem at all, as long as the articles are cut short with the More tag. Full article posted, but the More tag has to be inserted after the first or second paragraph.

some cnc would be nice. I wanted to write something relatively easy for my first post, will probably have a rant there after the hawks vs celtics game.

Pretty good. Space before you add the parenthesis. Also, I was pounded as a sportswriter (before I became sports editor) when I didn't use full names of players and teams. The first time you name them, use their full names (ex. Tyreke Evans, Miami Heat, Bill Simmons). After that, in your article, you can just go with Evans, Heat and Simmons (and for players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, you can use first names, as they stand out).

Ah, and don't forget to add tags. I did it for you (right side of the post). ;)

Good entry, I thought there wasn't too many good games on tonight. But after reading your points there are 4 for sure.
