Jenneral
Milwaukee is prepared to deviate from its strategy of clearing cap space for this summer if the right trade presents itself before the deadline. "If the right opportunity comes up for us, the right player with a contract that we may not deem to be favorable, that doesn't mean we will necessarily say no to that," GM John Hammond said. "If it's the right player and a player we think we can move forward with and it might have an effect on our flexibility, we may still do a deal for that." Read More... The only player with an expiring that I could see anyone wanting it Luke Ridnour and to be honest I'd rather us keep him. Sure it's good that he's an expiring contract but he's also been one of our primary scorers this season. He adds much needed depth for the nights when Jennings is struggling and adds a different type of PG play that is necessary against certain matchups. Aside from him, I don't see anyone that most teams would really want to go after. Plus I'd rather us just keep everything as is and go into the off-season with all these expirings. We're not in position to win the championship, so what good is making moves to win now but hurt our future? I'd rather see us go for players such as Raja Bell, David Lee (?), or even Travis Outlaw. Either way, we need a young SG to replace Redd and a SF or PF to take over the starting role.
La Bomba
Travis Outlaw can't take a starting role, at least not yet. He's an inconsistent energy player at best ala J.R. Smith.
Jenneral
Travis Outlaw can't take a starting role, at least not yet. He's an inconsistent energy player at best ala J.R. Smith.Right. But he's still young at only 26 years old. Our team needs youth as we can now build around Bogut and Jennings for years to come. That along with the fact that if given the chance to get starting minutes, I think Outlaw could grow to fit what we need. We wouldn't need him to put up 20/10 or anything like that. Something more like 15/7 would be enough for his role and we could get him relatively cheap. I think he has more potential and upside than Delfino or Ilyasova. It would be worth a shot. He's young and has potential to be a pretty good player. Why not give him a multi-year deal and see if he can grow into a starter alongside Bogut and Jennings? Owner Real Deal Posted February 1, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted February 1, 2010 It's tough to see free agents wanting to run to Milwaukee. Jennings is no John Wall, so he's not going to be the guy that attracts potential star teammates, such as Amare. Hell, even Evans isn't on that level. And Bogut is no Howard, either. People will want to play alongside teammates they feel they can contend with for 4-5 years or longer (the length of their contract), and it's hard to see anything like that happening in Milwaukee. Why not just make a run at Amare before the deadline? Put anything you can together to pair him up with Jennings, and hope that it propels the Bucks into the playoffs. Then, you can throw a max contract at him and hope he re-signs. If not, so what? That suddenly puts you in the FA market. Win-win, really. Newman
Raja Bell is out for the season I believe so he is out of the picture. Milwaukee is a relatively small city comparing to the rest of the NBA teams and I just can't see star players joining them. Not only that, the Bucks doesn't really have any tempting trading chips avaliable to make deals. I personally love Outlaw and I think that he can put up Ariza numbers if he join a team which gives him freedom to attack. I expect the Bucks to use the draft to get a young SG or promote Meeks if Redd never comes back, so let's see whether they can get a good SF now to complement Jennings + Bogut. Not trading now. We'll have a good amount of cap space to do what we want in the offseason if we don't take on any multi-year contracts before the deadline. If I'm correct Outlaw will be a FA and I truly think he could be a great asset to our team. We're pretty weak in the forward positions so he could fill a void there.
