Guest The Situation
Wow. Loved both of these movies. I bet the majority of the people never even seen Hurt Locker.
BasX
I like seeing District 9 nominated for Best Picture. It won't win, but I thought it was incredible.

bigdog17k
Avatar should end up winning a bunch.
xx.
The 10 nominations for Best Picture rule change is pretty cool, so there will be movies there that would never be nominated if it was just top 5, District 9 and The Blind Side don't belong there. Glad to see Maggie Gyllenhaal get the nomination for best supporting actress though, she got my vote probably as well as Jeff Bridges does. Best Picture : Hurt Locker, saw it in theaters, blew me away, still my #1 of the year from the summer. Up in the Air is a great film as well, neck and neck there. Cobb
I agree with you 100%.Yeah, I'm not even sure how it got so popular. It was a good movie but I've seen a lot better.
Dash
Avatar sucked. Hurt Locker was ok, nothing special really.
xx.
Avatar sucked. Hurt Locker was ok, nothing special really. What good films did you see this year than? And obviously there are better movies than Avatar, no movie is going to come out and become every ones favorite movie.
KurbyFX
Everyone's favorite? I'm talking about the millions of dollars they've been making on this "franchise"... Blue men? Smurfs anyone? Horrid storyline? And if you want to watch a CGI movie why not just watch Transformers where you get to see Megan Fox's magical white pants stay clean, all the time. I just think Avatar is WAY overhyped and doesn't deserve any hype. Good movie this year? Up in the Air, D9, Blind Side and Hurt Locker all deserve "nominations" over Avatar. I'm not a hater. I just want to understand why this movie is so hyped.
reno
How the ♠ can you say avatar is overrated? Great directing and overall sense of the world. Movie of the year imo.
Legacy
Am I the only one who thinks Avatar is overrated?I've been thinking this too. It was a good movie, but people are overrating it way too much.
xx.
Besides its greatness at the box office, I havent seen people overrating it. It wont win Best Picture or many awards to be honest probably just in the technology/digital parts.

And it's a breakthrough in filmmaking. It definitely deserves some awards.

fly3rs18
if you are only looking at plot and ignoring everything else, then yes, avatar wasnt very good. but it was probably the coolest movie ive ever seen. it was very original in that sense and was very well done. you cant only look at the plot
KurbyFX
In what sense was it original? A love story, blue people, fighting, war, chaos, scenery?
