Hmm...

The first three are easy.

1) Kobe Bryant

2) Dwyane Wade

3) Brandon Roy

4) Joe Johnson

5) Monta Ellis

As good as the Hawks are playing, Brandon Roy is still the better overall player. I can't stick Johnson above him. And Ellis turns the ball over a little too much, and he doesn't play defense.

I'd add Stephen Jackson, but he isn't even the best player on his team, and he relies too much on his teammates to get his offense going. He's probably sitting at six or seven, though.

I stuck Jackson up there for defense, being less turnover prone (than Ellis), and being the best scorer for a much better team, plus he takes less shots per game.

It wasn't a distinct choice for me, though. At this point, I'd say Ellis is at a close number 6 with Granger at 7 (if Danny still counts as an SG).

Also, a player doesn't have to be the best player on their team to be one of the best at their position. Some would argue that Josh Smith has been better for the Hawks this year than Joe Johnson.

He's actually playing defense this season. Hard to believe because of the team he is on. :P

Right, but S-Jax has spent most of his career relying on his teammates more than most other borderline all-star players. His defense is superior to Monta's, but his offense isn't, at all...and it's really not even close. Jackson has shot poorly from the field his entire career, especially when you include the fact that he has had a million wide-open shots from playing with the Spurs, O'Neal and Artest, and other solid teammates. He's also turning the ball over quite a bit for a guy who doesn't handle it much. Ellis isn't a point, but he handles the ball like one.

Ellis is too good of an offensive player. Jackson plays defense, but he struggles offensively, and if I were picking a franchise player between the two (dropping their age), I would take Ellis every day of the week.

However Jackson gets his offense, he still appears to be more of a positive impact on his team than Monta has been when comparing records.

Warriors record with S-Jax last year: 29-53 (PCT: .354)

Warriors record without S-Jax this year: 13-37 (PCT: .260, heading into 21-61 record)

Bobcats record without S-Jax last year: 35-47 (PCT: .427)

Bobcats record with S-Jax this year: 24-25 (PCT: .490, heading into 40-42 record)

As far as impact goes, getting rid of Stephen has had a negative impact on the Warriors and a positive one on the Bobcats.

Monta, on the other hand, played in just 25 games last year for the Warriors and had virtually no impact on the season as a whole, though the Warriors as a team appeared good enough to make the playoffs without him had they been located in the East. This year, Ellis has played in almost every game, yet the Warriors are somehow doing worse as Monta being the #1 guy rather than Stephen, though they have had some key injuries.

This isn't any shot against Monta's spectacular year (which deserves all star recognition), and I'm not saying Stephen is all that much better than Monta. It's just that however you look at Jackson's game, he's proven to be more than a positive asset. We have yet to see if Monta has what it takes to be the #1 option for a better team and still put up good enough numbers to be called a top 5 SG.

Come on now, you can't put it that way. Charlotte won that trade, easily. Your record will be better when you add a borderline all-star, and it will be worse when you get rid of one. Radmanovic is playing terrible basketball (as usual) and Raja Bell has played 1-2 games in a Warriors jersey. That would be like me saying Pau Gasol is far better than Bryant after the Lakers trade Gasol to the Celtics for Brian Scalabrine, since the Lakers get worse and Boston gets better.

The point is last year the Warriors did a lot better with Jackson as #1 option with no Monta than this year with Monta as #1 option with no Jackson.

Two different teams, bro. I don't see Crawford on the roster this season, among a few others playing more/less.

If you want to go that route, we can see what Golden State's record was...

with Monta Ellis last season (12-13, .480)...

and with Stephen Jackson last season (21-38, .356).
