NFL Offseason 2010

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the idiots F this up and we start off the season with all 3 QBs on our roster, with Donovan steaming about what happened during the offseason. I think at this point, they're almost forced to get McNabb out of town. There's no way he'd be happy with this situation next year if he's still in Philly.

It seems like that so far, sad that they botched things up with McNabb. I bet he'll start the season in Philly, I think there's a higher probability he gets traded at the deadline.

Clark Judge of CBSSports.com reports that the Eagles are close to sending cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to the Browns, either for a draft pick and a player or two draft picks and a backup.

Brian Hoyer welcomes the possible arrival of Tim Tebow

So with the Patriots making such an open and extensive effort to eyeball quarterback Tim Tebow, how does the current backup to Tom Brady feel about the possibility that Tebow will be coming to New England?

Brian Hoyer is unfazed.

"Bring him," Hoyer said Thursday to a group of reporters, per the Boston Herald. "Let's go."

I hope this doesn't mean they plan on drafting him... I like Tebow to much for him to go there.

Do they really think all their problems will be solved through the draft?

Sheldon Brown has seemed unhappy for a while. Also, he is at that age where the Eagles never give out extensions. I liked him a lot but nobody should be surprised that he's gone.

I hear Dallas is cutting Hamlin and Flozell Adams.

You hear correct.

Cowboys officially release S Hamlin, LT Adams

Alan Ball is next up on Dallas' depth chart at free safety, though the former cornerback and late-round pick wouldn't be an upgrade over Hamlin in any capacity. Hamlin, 29, missed four games last season due to injury, made just 52 tackles, and didn't create a single takeaway. He'll likely have to settle for a cheap, "prove it" deal elsewhere. Adams' release creates a void on Tony Romo's blind side, where Doug Free would start if the season began today

Browns, Eagles complete blockbuster trade

Browns acquired CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong from the Eagles in exchange for LB Alex Hall, a fourth-round pick, and a fifth-round pick.

The 31-year-old Brown, still playing at a high level, went on the trading block with the Eagles unwilling to sign him to a long-term deal. He'll receive a new contract and move into the Browns starting lineup opposite Eric Wright, eliminating the need for a corner at No. 7 overall. Gocong, a better fit in the 3-4 defense, could start opposite Matt Roth on the outside. The Browns did well to plug two defensive holes for a pair of mid-round picks.

Why would you trade Brown???

Why would you trade Brown???

He's old, injured, and unhappy.

I'm not in love with this trade, but i don't hate it. Sheldon was basically on his way out as it already is, and GoCong was benched last year and didn't have a future with the team. Neither players did. I'll miss Sheldon, he was an excellent CB for the majority of his stay in Philly. GoCong? I don't really care...

Looks like we're just stocking up on picks at this point. McNabb better be the next one to go, because it's obvious we're rebuilding.

Report: Merriman could be had for right price

According to beat writer Kevin Acee, restricted free agent Shawne Merriman could be had "for the right price" this offseason.

Per Acee, it's a price only GM A.J. Smith knows at this point. The Chargers have been reluctant to lock up Merriman ever since his torn LCL and PCL two summers ago. Smith drafted Merriman's replacement in Larry English last April, so he'll be open to draft-weekend offers from interested teams

Yeah he was unhappy but he still was playing at a high level I think higher pick/s could have been got for him.

This is basically how I feel about it. I have had a feeling Sheldon was on his way out for a while now. He has never seemed happy here and there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell the Eagles were going to give him the new contract he wanted.

I consider Gocong/Hall a toss-up (although I really know nothing about Hall, I'm just hearing he is very similar to Gocong). So to me it just comes down to Sheldon for those draft picks. It would have been nice to get a bit more but I've accepted the fact that there was no chance Sheldon would be back.

Either way you look at it, for now, Cleveland wins the trade. The Eagles had stockpiled picks as it is, this is overkill. You have to think they're going to move up for someone, especially Eric Berry if he falls past 8.

Well, until we know what they plan to do with all of these picks I'm not sure how it can be called overkill.

True. Maybe I should've worded it differently. You have to think with so many mid-round picks, a big move up during the draft is coming. I know Philly highly covets Berry and has brought in Earl Thomas more then once.

End of the line: Cowboys release veteran LT Adams, S Hamlin

The Dallas Cowboys released five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Flozell Adams and safety Ken Hamlin on Friday, two years after both players signed long-term contracts.

Adams, who's coming off his 12th NFL season, was the longest-tenured player on the team, having started 178 of his 182 games for the Cowboys. All of his Pro Bowl selections came between 2003 and 2008.

"Having a left tackle of Flozell Adams' caliber has been a luxury for the Dallas Cowboys for the past 12 years," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement released by the team. "That position (left tackle) is one of the most difficult to play and one of the three or four most important spots on an NFL roster.

I know what you're saying and unfortunately knowing this organization, all of those picks may go to waste. But if they have a plan on how to use them, I won't kill them for it yet.
