fish7718
Lions needed Scheffler, he's a great mid-range pass catcher (Stafford needs all the weapons he can get) and it allows them to tell Pettigrew not to rush back from surgery. Sims also didn't fit Schwartz's scheme. 2+2=TradeYeah I forgot the Lions actually care about winning now Still don't make sense if they care about winning they wouldn't trade their best defender. Flash
Ernie Sims made a living at FSU getting "tackles" by jumping on piles or guys who had already been slowed down by someone else.
Phightins
Good or bad trade depending on what pick Eagles gave, considering all Lions wanted for compensation was Tony Schefler that would lead me to believe they aren't very high on Sims. The Eagles gave the 137th pick.
NomarFachix
along with a new scheme implemented by a new coach which didn't complement his skill set. In an interview with 97.3 FM in Atlantic City, Millen told Mike Gill of The Sportsbash that Sims simply doesn't fit the new defense that's being implemented in Detroit. As Millen explains it, Sims was drafted to play weakside linebacker in the Tampa Two/Cover Two defense, which is premised on speed and athleticism. Under coach Jim Schwartz, larger linebackers are required. Millen also suggested that the Eagles got a steal, given that they got the ninth pick in the 2006 draft for only a fifth-round selection. "The problem is when you change the defense, sometimes guys fit, [and] sometimes they don't fit," Millen said. Still, the Lions got tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round pick for Sims. If anyone got screwed here, it was Denver, who got a two-round upgrade (from seven to five) for a guy who was a second-round pick four years ago. The Great iBoldin
Let's put it this way. Sims was a bigger pile jumper at FSU then Laurinaitis was at OSU. That should put it into context. He's an undersized pile jumper that gets his due because of name recognition. You guys had something so much better then Weatherspoon. Sims has done absolutely NOTHING to deserve any positive comments in this thread. He sucks.
Flash
Do me a favor and, instead of simply dismissing something blindly, try and counterpoint what is actually being discussed. Kthx. I did. Millen isn't going to talk bad about a kid he drafted. I've watched him since college. The Eagles only have up a 5th rounder so they probably won't be negatively affected but still, dude isn't a good football player.
Guest Need4Sheed
Guys, do you realize Sims only came for a 5th round pick? If he gets injured or turns out to be nothing so be it. It's only a 5th round pick. Some are acting like we think he is a pro bowler.
NomarFachix
I did. Millen isn't going to talk bad about a kid he drafted. I've watched him since college. And yet you still have nothing to say about the notion that he was drafted as an undersized, fast linebacker to play in a Tampa 2 (similar to Cato June in Indy) and didn't fit the new scheme that the new coach brought in, which did not utilize his talents. But hey, Millen drafted him, and that's an easy dismissal for you. Play that card.

The Regime
Sources: McNabb Wants T.O. In Washington ESPN - Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb is encouraging the team to sign free-agent wide receiver Terrell Owens, according to multiple sources. Washington coach Mike Shanahan has said that the team isn't actively pursuing Owens, but they are looking to upgrade at the wide receiver position. A source close to McNabb claims that the two former Eagles spoke recently about a reunion while shooting an episode of "Pros v. Joes." Owens and McNabb spent a season and a half together in Philadelphia. They played in a Super Bowl together, but their relationship was a rocky one near the end. Phightins
I must say, I am thoroughly impressed that a New York Giants fan is going to such great lengths to defend a Philadelphia Eagle.

I'd like to see how things would be if they were indeed reunited. Would probably either be really good, or disastrous.
CaliCurbStomppa
Patriots just signed Torry Holt to a 1-year deal. That sucks. I think he can still play at a high level he just needs a good qb to get him the ball and im sure Brady will do that and he wil lbe the old Holt we been wanting to see.
