magicbalala245
Dwayne Wade is open to the idea of signing an extension this summer and letting the HEAT breath a major sigh of relief as they wouldn't have to worry about losing Wade in the madness of 2010 free agency. However, Wade is not ready to commit to the HEAT until he feels like a championship team is being built around him. "I'm going to listen. I owe the Miami Heat that much. I'm going to listen to what they have to say and I'm going to think about it," Wade told The Associated Press. "But right now, the way I feel, I want to make sure that we're on track to where I want us to be on track to before I sign back." Luckily for the HEAT Wade was very happy with this past season. They went from having one of the worst teams in the league in 2007-2008 to being a playoff team in 2008-2009. It was a definite step in the right direction, but Dwayne doesn't want to see that step turn into a stop. "I'm good with that," Wade said, "for one year." Wade has all the leverage in the world after leading the HEAT to a championship in 2006. He's proven to the organization that with the right kind of talent around him he can take them to heights they've never reached before. With that said, Wade has also seen how quickly a superstar can fall off the map when they don't have a quality supporting cast, which is why he's making it a priority for HEAT GM Pat Riley to put together the best team possible. "I've told Coach Riley this: All my life, all I've ever wanted to do is win and be put in a position where I can win and succeed," Wade explained. "Build me a team. Put the pressure on me to win a championship. Give me a team and say, 'All right, you've got to go do it,' and I'll take that pressure. Give me guys that we feel can compete every year to win a championship. I don't want to go anywhere else." The Miami HEAT are slated to be well below the salary cap next offseason, with enough money to re-sign Wade and bring in another superstar as well. If Wade signs an extension his presence along with Miami being one of the premiere cities in the league should make the HEAT a very attractive option for guys like Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony. It will be much easier for the HEAT to convince a superstar to sign with them if they already have one locked up for the future and Riley undoubtedly realizes that. Although the HEAT would love to sign Wade to an extension this offseason, they may not be able to make him happy enough to get it done in the next couple of months. There are very few moves that the HEAT can pull off that are worth jeopardizing their cap space in the offseason. More vital than any signing or potential trade is the development from within. The HEAT should be paying as much attention to the offseason workouts of Michael Beasley, Mario Chalmers, and Daequan Cook as they do to trying to extend Wade. With no guaranteed contracts on the books for 2010-2011 the HEAT are positioned nicely to receive some great trade offers as long as they're patient. Teams looking to clear out cap space or save money are going to come to them with an open mind. The right deal will come if they're wait and they have no reason not to be considering who they have headlining the team. "My talents can help a team compete for a championship," Wade said. "I've proven that." Heat fans you heard Wade give him a team to compete with and he promise he will take you to the promise land. Flash
Hmm Melo and Wade together? That would be something to think about if Melo thinks he can win in Miami. Bring in Melo, start Beasley at the 4 and try and sign Jermaine for the MLE. Chalmers/Iverson?Wade/CookMelo/Moon/DorrellBeasley/HaslemJermaine/Anthony That would be pretty amazing. Wade and Melo are very close and I think would be open to playing with each other. Still think we end up with Bosh though.
