Owner Real Deal Posted February 18, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 The Mavericks intend to pursue Zydrunas Ilgauskas if he receives a buyout from the Washington Wizards. Erick Dampier underwent successful surgery Wednesday morning to repair an open dislocation of his right middle finger suffered on Tuesday. "He'll be out for a while," coach Rick Carlisle said. "I'm just not sure exactly how long." The Mavericks can only offer Ilgauskas a prorated portion of the veteran's minimum salary of about $1.3 million. Ilgauskas has spent his entire 12-year career with the Cavaliers, but he would have to wait 30 days to return to Cleveland.http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/64804/20100217/mavs_want_ilgauskas/

Owner Real Deal Posted February 18, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 Well, I don't know why, because you guys already have Haywood and Damp. But with that said, the Mavericks definitely won't be the only team after Big Z.

Owner Real Deal Posted February 18, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 yeh but damp got a bad knee and broken fingerIt makes more sense, in that case...but if it's for a backup role, Ilgauskas would want to go back to Cleveland. Someone like the Heat could lure him into a starter role, with Jermaine at the four...but I don't think they'd want that, either...not sure. That makes things complicated for Beasley having to play the three again. Still, there will be teams with enough money to make Zydrunas think, no matter the role. Owner Real Deal Posted February 18, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 because haywood is averageIMO, I think he's better than Ilgauskas. Haywood is one of the better defensive centers in the NBA. Plus, he's averaging nearly a double-double, 10 boards and a hair under 10 points, on 56% FG. Ten points, ten rebounds, two blocks a game, and excellent defense (the only guy that played defense in Washington). That's pretty damn good.
