Damn man sorry to hear all this. I would've thought working out/playing basketball would be good to lower your BP? Hmm.

Well, it does, but there's a problem. Being a diabetic, when I play basketball, my blood sugars climb (due to adrenaline). With higher blood sugars, my blood pressure rises, and instead of falling (like a normal person's would after activity), it stays up there until I fix my blood sugar with insulin...which presents another problem because, 2-3 hours after I'm done playing, my blood sugar hits rock bottom.

Really complicated how things work. I'm annoyed as ever.

No.. no joke. If it were up to me, I'd move to Houston as soon as I'm finished with school.

Ah well if you do move here get ready for the obligatory hurricane warning every September.

Everything seems to be a struggle lately. I had to switch to another primary doctor, mainly due to my diabetes and HBP, and this guy flipped out. He put me on three different BP meds (was already on two). My BP was 180/110 in the office, but it usually runs lower (still high, but the norm for me would be 140/90). The nurse in there knows I have white coat syndrome (BP rises in the office, no matter what). He ended up giving me two different pills while I sat in the office, and two hours after I got home, my BP reading was 97/64. Felt like I was dead...pulse was down to 61.

He's freaking out because I have a lot of sodium in my diet, I am very aggressive playing basketball, and I work out, all of which cause my blood pressure to go up. I eat a lot, and I'm not a vegetarian, so obviously, I'm going to have plates filled with sodium. Also, I'm not going to stop playing ball or working out.

I'm going to take a step back and consider restructuring a high protein, low sodium, low fat diet. It's just hell because I really don't have the money to spend on 30 days of healthy food each month, when most of that food has gone up in price. Eating healthy isn't too bad, but paying for it leaves your wallet empty.

Plus, I'm going to have to cook much more for lunch. I don't mind cooking dinners (my girl and I take turns), but I try to avoid cooking a complicated lunch. Now, I'll have to consider it. Cold cuts are high in sodium, so 2-3 quick sandwiches won't do it for me anymore. Same with canned food.

Just a hassle. I gotta see this doctor every two weeks now, for at least the next three months. He also wants blood drawn every three months. Ugh. Ridiculous.

Wow dude that really sucks. I wish a thing or two on diabetes (although I probably should considering my major) but best of luck man.

Holy shit....I just worked out in my garage for 2 hours. I have been doing it for like 4 months now, but today was the first time it was raining outside so it was humid as balls in my garage. I don't know how I got through my workout, I was struggling to pick up any weight and I was sweating bullets after like 5 minutes.

I hate speeches, acting for classes. I once had a class where I had to say The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln and my teacher had me cross my arms behind my back like an idiot just because thats what Lincoln used to do.

I never realized how easy it was to get into a sports bar for ages 21+ at night. I got in without even getting my ID checked, ahh the benefits of looking older than you really are.

Just ate dinner literally no more than 10 feet away from D-Wade, Gabrielle Union, LeBron and his fiance at a little restaurant in Coral Gables. Pretty awesome seeing how close those guys are off the floor. I didn't go up and say anything to them though, I would hate for someone to come up to me while I was eating dinner.

I'm sure everyone takes pics of them and they know it. Nothing creeper about it at all. Therefore I call bs.

Why would I randomly make this up?

Why would a Heat fan not go up to them?

I'm not a Heat fan but I'd be all over them, no joke. And I'm a pretty shy guy around people I don't know.

Eh I can relate. Olajuwon once came over to our MSA (Muslim Students Association) prayer on Friday at school and while everyone was talking to him and taking pictures, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I shook his hand and said hi but I could recall that he absolutely hated to sign autographs and take pictures, so I just stood out of his way.
