I never felt the impact of 1972 or 1987. I was 8 when Hasek shut us down. 2002 felt more like relief and 2006 was disappointment. With all of that said, what just happened tonight may be the most important Championship I have been a part of. It capped off an Olympics that started on a sad note with the death of the Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili and was followed by the awkwardness of the Olympic torch. The games finished with Canada on top of the mountain winning the most events all time in Winter Olympic history. Winning 14 Gold Medals was an amazing accomplishment, but the Gold medal today capped off the best experience this country may have ever seen. I may only be 20 years old, but the feeling this country had united is something I will never forget. I cannot remember a time when my friends and I got together to watch any sport that came on whether it been curling, alpine skiing, cross-country or hockey.

Canadian's take pride in hockey and we identify it as our national sport. There are times when people think the coverage may go over the top. Hockey seems to dominate the airwaves. As a basketball fan, sometimes I wonder why Hockey takes up the time it does. The NBA is important too and the Raptors have a superstar to market. I am here to officially here to say, man, that feeling I used to have growing up loving hockey, is back and I am sorry for questioning you. I usually don't watch too much NHL unless it is Philly but I can guarantee that it has won me back. I also helps I saw a replay of the 2004 Eastern Conference Semis versus the Leafs where Roenick scored in overtime to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. I missed Hockey, and I hope it welcomes me back.

This was the best hockey I have seen in a long time. The United States was amazing in the way they played the game. They did it the right way and as a Canadian, it makes me proud to see our brothers to the south playing a sport we call our own, the right way. Words cannot describe the past 2 weeks and the impact it had on our country.

I'll leave out hockey because that would be my numbers one but the next five moment have to be Alexandre Bilodeau winning the first gold on home soil. And it's not just that, but the reaction and connection he and his brother had during his run. Next would have to be Jon Montgomery winning skeleton and going through the streets of Vancouver (well athletes village area) and eventually drinking from a pitcher of beer. Words cannot describe the awesomeness. Clara Hughes winning bronze in her last race was great because I saw it live. Charles Hamelin winning two gold on the same day brought back memories of Salt Lake and Marc Gagnon. But the best moment is easily Joannie Rochette whose mother died 2 days before competing and she goes out and skates flawlessly and wins a bronze.

Vancouver 2010 brought a nation together and being part of a moment like this at the age of 20, may be the best moment so far in my life. I have seen my Jayhawks win a national title because of a last second shot and I have also seen my Steelers win on a last second touchdown. Those will remain my teams but my country not only means more to me, but gave me a moment I will never forget. When I saw the announcement in 2003 I hoped for success and there is no doubt what Canada got is something that cannot be quantified but instead is represented in red and white. Go Canada Go, that is why I love this country.

3-2-10

Ours isn't split into divisions. Our team hasnt been very good though. We lost our first game against a team that was just much better than us and we didnt play to our potential. We lost by like 40. Then we played this past Sunday against a team that has two guys who could like be starters in college. One of them didnt play very well cause he had jammed fingers, but the other guy (Mike Henderson) played for the University of Iowa and now has a contract to play in the Netherlands. We were kind of complaining cause professionals are not suppose to play in the Y-league but he just tore us up. We lost that game by like 3 at the end.

This week has kind of sucked with school. I had three tests on Friday and now I have one tomorrow, Thursday, and next Monday. Hate how teachers like to pile on so much work right before Spring break. Oh well.

Got a suggestion for ya... new Four Tet album that came out this year called "There Is Love in You". Not sure if you're familiar with the guy but he's pretty good, the new album looks promising. I've only heard a couple songs off it but I think it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for new music. Here's a song from the album:

Kelly Dwyer

So I like this Kelly Dwyer despite him being on the Lebron side of the Kobe vs Lebron thing. He writes pretty good, casual analysis on his "Behind the Boxscore" sections and he says things how he sees them. But recently, there's been a really close game between Lakers and Heat, and well this time I feel he's just plain wrong. Here's the Link.

First off, even as a Laker fan, I try to be as unbiased as possible. I just want to get that straight. But here's the thing that set me off as a Laker fan:

The Lakers ran one play, to start OT, and it was fantastic - three passes that gave Kobe a good look at a three-pointer that was off by millimeters and spun out. Beyond that, Bryant and the 2010 Lakers acted like Allen Iverson(notes) and the 2000 76ers.

Now to compare Kobe's Lakers to Allen's 76ers is an insult to my team. However, in this case it would turn to be the other way around. Iverson's 6ers had the luxary of defense. From Snow to Mutumbo they were pretty decent on that side of the court. However during overtime of this Miami v Laker game, Lakers had NO defense in this particular game. From Kobe to Odom, the only stop came after the Lakers turned the ball over. Then Kelly goes on to say that

They need to pay attention to this overtime. It's not about Odom missing a three, or a defense that fell short. The defense has been there all season.

You got that first part right Kelly, but to honestly not attribute the loss to defense more than anything is just writing out of your [expletive]. Instead what I'd attribute this loss to was the much too obvious loss of energy from being in an away court. Maybe it was the Kobe: Allen comparison that set my Laker alarm on, but either way I still enjoying his write ups. Just not this one.

"He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money." - Benjamin Franklin

People get so caught up with what they make per hour, that they lose sight of the true meaning of 'the rat race.' There's no meaningful differences between a man that earns $10/hr and a woman that earns $19/hr.....they're BOTH employees working hard for another person's dream. Get it?

Moral of story....love what you do, do what you love. A major difference between the wealthy and the impoverished is that the wealthy man/woman figures out ways to make money doing what they love. Adversely, the impoverished finds ways to spend it on things they love. Regardless of what wage you allow yourself to be defined by, there are two sides to this rat race. There are the merchants of the world, and there's the consumers....after you pick a side, then lets discuss rat race.

Just a deep thought....

Oh, good morning by the way......

Well my trip to AZ for Wrestlemania is booked, and now all I gotta do is save money to buy stuff while I'm there.

Gotta say I'm pretty damn excited for this. It was one of my dreams to attend a Wrestlemania(the others being SummerSlam, the Superbowl, the Royal Rumble, and All-Star Weekend) and now it's come true. Just a great feeling.

So I am about to do a nights work of homework and hopefully I am successful in getting a lot of things done. Doing a lot tonight will help me for the next two weeks which will be hell. Anyway, I have most of the music recommendations here (and thank you guys for those) ready to go but are backed up by a few others things. I just listened to Explosions in the Sky for the first time in awhile and soo awesome, and I got a few more post-rock bands to go. Again, any recommendations you guys have I will take into consideration.

Now the Drake thread got me wondering about albums that I could consider AOTY, outside of rap because that isn't my strong point. The main ones I can't wait for are Dillinger Escape Plan and Deftones. DEP is getting good reviews from the staff at sputnik who reviewed it and if the album is like the single then it should be dirty good. Right now albums up there for AOTY are Motion City Soundtrack, American Dollar, Meleeh and Name. Each could fall but right now those albums are on top.

Man I really do not want to do this work, but I need to. Anyway I got this last.fm song tracker that is cool so I going to post it here. Time is a little off for me but whatever. Anyway recommend some stuff and hopefully I can get to it. Later

So how is it in Australia? Have you ever lived anywhere other than it?

Nope. Sorry for the late reply, forgot about this.

Anyways, the weirdest thing happened today. I was playing a full court game of basketball at school today. By the middle of the game I realised teams were unfair so I changed teams, grabbed a defensive rebound and went on a fast break, out of nowhere a small ball (european handball) hit me in the sack, I fell down hard and it really hurt. Karma much?

If you haven't already, check out the new Gorillaz album, its really good. On Melancholy Hill is one of the best songs I've heard lately for real.

And Four Year Strong, my really close friends actually knows them, she works at concert venues and ish.
