Guest The Situation
Obama Writing Health Bill to Skirt GOP Filibuster The president reportedly is working on health care legislation intended to reconcile differences between House and Senate Democrats that could be attached to a budget bill and pass with only 51 Senate votes. The president's proposal, which is still being written, will be posted on the Internet by Monday morning, senior administration officials and Congressional aides told the New York Times. By piggybacking the legislation onto a budget bill, Democrats would be able to advance the bill with a simple majority of just 51 votes, averting a Republican filibuster in the Senate. "It will be a reconciliation bill," the Times quoted a Democratic aide as saying. "If Republicans don't come with any substantial offers, this is what we would do." source So this means basically that since they cannot pass the health care reform as is with the current ruling of 60 consecutive votes for it they will just go in and edit the rules making the amount of votes less so it will be passed with no problems. And many say the this country isn't turning towards a bit of Socialism. haha
JYD
What I don't understand is why Republicans haven't come up with a plan that they can really get out there and try to 'market' I guess you could say to the American people? That's what I don't get. They have nothing, all they do is the marjority of them shoot down anything the President wants to do... Him trying to "change the rules" on the voting, as you put it, is not socialism. The President abusing his power somewhat? Maybe, I could at least buy that. But that's not socialism, lmao. You might as well just suck Barack Obama's nuts while you're at it. Democrats are slimeballs, illegally resister people to vote, piss on the U.S. Constitution, and now this. This won't happen, so I'm not worried at all, and I love how you say Republicans haven't come up with a plan, even though what you think is "no plan" is better than the [expletive] [expletive] plan that Barack Obama has. Let's leave the burden on OUR generation...............

Do I think he should use his power to change the voting system that would probably help him get the health care passed? No, he shouldn't. With that said, Republicans are for sure looking to fail (a good 90% of them in congress) and they really don't have a plan, at least I haven't heard one... And him changing the voting system isn't socialism...
Owner Real Deal Posted February 20, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted February 20, 2010 Republicans don't have a plan because, quite frankly, they don't have a plan for ANYTHING. "Let's not make it too complicated. Hell, let's just not MAKE IT at all. The country is fine!" I have to at least hand it to Dems because they are the only ones that notice the problems. Or, well, at least want to fix them. I'm sure the Republicans notice, but they are too in over their heads in how much money they can retain, how long they can suck the middle class and lower class dry, and how awesome it is to see big-time CEO's getting their money, because that's all it's about for them. This country is [expletive] up and has been since early 2000. Some just don't notice because they are too busy living their big city lives, making their big city money, and looking down on those who are less fortunate than they are. Hell no, don't expect ANYONE like that to help you, because they don't need help themselves. I had to go blind to see for myself. How funny is that? There are ignorant, careless, worthless people that want to wipe Medicaid off the map, completely, for this country. That wouldn't be good for them, though, once they go bankrupt, come down with cancer, and have to pay out-of-pocket for their chemo and radiation treatments, sitting at home and taking three hydros a day, jobless and needing a $600-700 check at the beginning of every month, having to live with someone else because, even if they DID get that check, it wouldn't cover the $1,100-1,200 it costs to live, per month, in a small city. But perfect health? No big deal. Who gives a [expletive] about everyone else outside of the family, right?
Flash
Funny that my friend who supported Obama and who's parents did too was telling me how unhappy his dad (a cardiologist) with Obama and the way the new policies are affecting his practice. All I had to say was, I told you so. This country is absolutely headed toward socialism and this is the perfect example. Next up is the Dems getting Comrade Obama a third term. OldChili
And him changing the voting system isn't socialism...Haha, seriously. I can't believe people still have that McCarthy mentality where everything bad is falsely labeled as socialism. I'm not a fan of this either, but I'm amazed at the significant amount of people that can't stop for one second and think for themselves rather than following everything their party has to say. This is a sign of socialism? Give me a break...
Flash
Maybe socialism isn't the right word. Is dictatorship more fitting?

All I had to say was, I told you so.Well, he's got money because he's a cardiologist. That's all that matters. My doctor sang a different tune. He admitted that it would hurt his earnings a bit, but he also said that universal health care would encourage people to go to the doctor when they need to, which in turn makes for less sick people at work, school and other social businesses and events. Healthier crowd. And it also gives the opportunity for a patient to get treated with Option A, instead of the dreaded Option B. He has to force his patients into that second treatment option because most can't afford the better one, and as a doctor and as a human being who CARES about those he has to treat, I guess he can't go wrong with that way of thinking. People are selfish, so I guess, actually, I have to live with that.

JYD
Maybe socialism isn't the right word. Is dictatorship more fitting?well, actuallly, yeah... Socialism refers to the economic set-up of the country, has nothing to do with him changing the voting system for health care? lol.
