La Bomba
The Grizzlies will send No. 2 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet to the NBA Development League, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Commercial Appeal. Thabeet and fellow rookie Lester Hudson will meet the Dakota Wizards in Pennsylvania on Friday morning. Players can only be assigned to D-League duty by their NBA teams during their first two NBA seasons. Thabeet, a 7-footer out of Connecticut, had just been demoted to third string at center behind Marc Gasol and Hamed Haddadi. Before Wednesday's victory over Washington, Thabeet seemed unfazed by his benching. “Me being the No. 2 pick doesn’t mean I have to go and contribute right away,” Thabeet said. “There’s a reason they drafted me. I just have to work hard, get better and then one day be able to answer the call.” Thabeet, 23, is averaging just 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game for the Grizzlies http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/feb/25/grizzlies-send-thabeet-development-league/

Dr. Feelgood
Eh, he's still got potential but he's just way to raw.
La Bomba
If he was 19 or 20 than I would still be hyped about his so called potential, but he's a 23 year old who can only get weak side blocked shots, looks lost on offense, and isn't even that good of a rebounder for a player his size. This guy should of been drafted in the second round.
kingfish
Dude will never amount to anything in the NBA, I have no idea what the Griz saw in him.
Sun Tzu
I was actually expecting Thabeet to actually get minutes in the NBA, I didn't expect anything big from him though but I did expect him to get minutes on any team and be at least decent. La Bomba
One of the reasons we sent him is because our D-League team plays seven games in 10 days which gives him some time to play. Still no excuse for a top 5 pick to ever play in the D-League.
Jenneral
I don't think you can label someone a bust until they've been in the league for a few seasons. However, I really don't know why they drafted him this high to begin with. He's not that big (strength and width wise) and he relies too much on the block instead of just playing good D. He was never known for his offense anyway. They drafted him at the #2 spot based solely on his ability to block college players - not too smart in my opinion. Newman
I guess they drafted him that high because they didn't want another PG to fight for minutes with Conley. Still, I predict a bright future for this guy, just need a bit of time.
