The Regime
Magic coach Stan Van Gundy believes that center Dwight Howard should repeat as the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year. Howard is leading the league in both rebounding and blocked shots for the second consecutive season. "I don't know how he couldn't get it again," Van Gundy said. "When you're that dominate on the defensive boards, you're taking away second chances. You're leading the league in blocked shots. He defends his position well. He's a very good pick-and-roll defender. "There's just not a lot of weaknesses with him on the defensive end of the floor. I would be disappointed and surprised — assuming that the next 24 games continue the same trend — if he were not Defensive Player of the Year again." bigdog17k
As of now he should definitely get it. But I know some haters are going to say no. -_-
Flash
Of course he should get it but you know who everyone's going to want to give it to.
Lkr
No one else really deserves it, so why not? He averages the most blocks in the league
Kobe24
I agree, he should get it a couple more times at least before his career is over.
Hero
Clearly Dwight is going to get that award. Nobody else can lay a finger on Dwight.
La Bomba
I don't know about this. The more I watch Dwight, the more it seems like he's just a good weakside defender. I think Perkins is a superior man defender.
His Greatness
Absolutely he should, and he's going to be the favorite to win it every year. Howard's total defensive impact is in another league.
Jenneral
Does he have 23 consecutive games with a block? No. Do you want to know who does? Bogut. :glasses:
