I can't believe their ain't a topic on this so I'll start it. Your the GM your building a team. What PG do you chose? CP3 or Deron? For my franchise sake I would choose CP3. He is just quicker, better passer, and in my opinion a better finisher.

CP3. His only real disadvantage is his size, but he rebounds better than Deron so he makes up for it pretty well. His 3 ball isn't quite as good as Deron's, but it has improved a lot and is close to the same level now.

Deron Williams, and I have said this for a long, long time.

Deron Williams also owns CP3 is their match-ups.

Deron Williams is:

- The better shooter

- Stonger

- Equal passer

CP3 is a better defender, although many people get caught up in his steals stats and give him more credit than her deserves, but I don't really care about that, but Deron Williams isn't a poor defender by any stretch.

Also, many people underestimate the passing abilities of Deron Williams because they have seen CP3 make a lot of flashy plays, but Deron Williams is right up there with CP3 in terms of passing.

CP3's baby floater/teardrop is the best in the NBA, with Tony Parker the close second. He scores the majority of his points in the lane, and when he can't get a shot off he's in the right area to make a pass to the best option available.

Deron might be a little stronger, but like I said he doesn't rebound as well, and his defense is worse. So where the hell does that get him, make him box out a little better? It's not nearly as important for a PG to have strength as it is for a post player, and in the cases it needs to be used all out CP3 actually gains the advantage by using his head.

They aren't equal passers. Deron's stats are worse, with more options to pass to. His real ability is a little worse, he can't make as high of a percentage of the nice bounce passes that CP3 makes, and he doesn't have the ally-oop ability either.

Deron has worse handles, doesn't have the same IQ, and is more turnover prone. He doesn't play D as well either.

Deron averaged .4 more turnovers per game last year than Paul, and averages .3 more in his career. He averages less assists and has been beaten in that category in his career, and also scores less. 3.5 points less last year, and less in his career. He hasn't been on the NBA all D team, and hasn't deserved to. Chris gambles on defense a lot, I'll give you that, but he's the better perimeter defender and holds his own inside against guards. He's even blocked posts before, and has been known to box out centers and 4s.

Paul is the superior player. Deron is the second best point guard on the planet right now, the second best passing point guard too. Tony Parker is probably third at this point in time.

Deron is great, and a future HOFer, but Paul is going to go down as one of the top 5 greatest point guards ever.

I still think that Tony Parker has the best "tear drop" shot in the NBA, but CP3 has a very nice one as well.

Deron Williams is not just a little bit strong, but he is a LOT stronger, and it's like that compared to most PG's in the NBA, so it's not just CP3.

You are correct about the ability to throw the ally-oop, but I think you just watch a lot more of CP3 and don't really see Deron Williams enough to know how good of a passer he is, regardless of the little differential in stats.

I would take Deron Williams on my team, and one of the main reasons is because I think his shooting ability is far superior to CP3.

I know someone will try and mention the Rajon Rondo v.s. Devin Harris comparision because of the last comment, but as shown, Rajon Rondo is not that far behind Devin Harris in shooting.

I didn't see anywhere that you can back up that Deron is a better passer, or equal.

I didn't see where you point out how Deron uses his strength (probably because he doesn't use it fully).

I depends on what you mean by shooting. If you count tear drops in the lane as part of your shooting repotuare(sp?), then I think Paul has the advantage because he takes higher percentage shots. Deron shoots better from 3 land like I said. Mid range, Paul is cash money. He isn't Steve Nash but he hits almost everything inside the arc when he's open. He can't really do the Kobe routine and shoot the fade-aways with a man all over him, but he doesn't need to. His quickness gets him open a ton of times in a game, and when he can't get open he usually makes the right read.

I just don't see how Deron is the better player. I know head to head he's had more success, but that's been swinging in CP3's favor over the last two seasons as well.

Deron >>> CP3

In fact, Chauncey >>> CP3 if your trying to win in the playoffs

CP3 is just a flashy PG should be playin street ball. Personally I think hes a little punk, too flashy when he doesnt need to be and sometimes it costs his team. Look at seconds 46-52 on this video

If he makes the simple dish to his wide open teammate, game over. Instead, he costs his team a win and got owned.

Yup dude tried to be a cocky douche bag and above all that it was a horrible fake. If he wasnt tryin to show off he makes a simple dish to FOUR teammates around him and the Hornets win. But thats CP3 for ya, gotta do unncessary tricks to show off.

Not only canI not believe this is an arguement I can believe this is a topic. CP3 is in a league all to his own. He is a better passer/handler/scorer/rebounder/defender than Deron.

That's what I was thinking. I'm surprised the voting is actually close. CP3 is better in almost every category besides strength.

I'm actually not surprised it's that close because alot of people seem to believe Deron will have a better Career then Chris Paul and that translates into who they'd rather have to build a franchise.

Right Now I'm going Deron his overall game exceeds Cp3's from where I see it. He's a more complete player and everything you'd want in your coach on the court.

And if it hasn't been made clear already, Deron is a better Man to Man defender the Paul at the moment.
