Universe
http://www.netsdaily.com/?p=10088 Rod Thorn had offers before the deadline, but the players other teams wanted–Devin Harris, Brook Lopez and Courtney Lee–weren’t players he wanted to give up. He called them “players that just stood out to us over the course of the year, guys who can be on a rotation on a good team and are all relatively young.” As for the Knicks’ strategy, “Just because you get there doesn’t mean you’re going to sign people.” O rly? Owner Real Deal Posted March 1, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted March 1, 2010 I understand Lopez because he's a good big man, but Lee and Harris? If you could trade those two for a really good power forward (possibly borderline all-star), and be lucky enough to get John Wall, you just jumped from one of the worst teams in NBA history up to a playoff team...and that's without signing a big-name FA. Doc
I love how the nets are handling themselves for the offseason. Unlike the Knicks, if the Nets do not land anyone big, they still have a young core to look foward to.

As for Harris, he just turned 27 years old and only making eight million per season which is good for a former all-star who has hit 30. When you look around the league, fast point gaurds get paid. Tony Parker is around 13 and Rondo is going to start making 9 mil and rises to 13. Now I'm not saying he is better than any of those guys but you replace him with some of the big name point gaurds and I don't think the teams would falter that much. If he does get traded, it'll be after the summer because with one major signing, the whole gameplan is switched.
Newman
I am thinking those offers were probably just to take advantage of Nets' disaster season and are probably just salary dumps. No team is going to be stupid enough to offer a borderline all star to one of the worst teams in the history.
